Delhi Capitals all-rounder Chris Morris who is an integral part of the DC franchise in the IPL 12 which is currently under progress is hopeful of his franchise beating the table toppers Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata in a day’s time. Delhi Capitals stormed their way back into contention after a convincing victory against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in their previous clash.
Courtesy their 4 wickets victory against Bangalore, Delhi Capitals moved up to the 5th position in the points table with 6 points from as many games. The Kolkata Knight Riders leapfrogged Chennai Super Kings at the top of the points table after a thoroughly professional performance against the Rajasthan Royals. Chris Morris further revealed that it will be a tough ask for his franchise to beat the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens.
“KKR is playing some amazing cricket at the moment. They have some great match winners in their team, players with X-factor. We’ve got a few days in between to rest and recover, and to get our bodies strong and fresh,” he said.
“Eden Gardens is a tough place to play for the visiting side, but as a team and as a unit, we look forward to the challenge and hopefully we can pull off a win on Friday.”
In the first clash between the two franchises in the tournament, it was Delhi Capitals who huffed and puffed their way to a sensational victory in the Super Over. All credit goes to Kagiso Rabada who did a terrific job in the Super Over. He castled Andre Russell with a gem of a delivery which prevented KKR from scoring the required 11 runs to win the game.
“We will, of course, go back to the drawing board and see what went wrong in the last match against them in Delhi which went to the Super Over. We will look to improve on those areas and make sure we are ready,” Morris said.
The all-rounder stated that he was very happy with their performance against Royal Challenger Bangalore which has instilled confidence among the players for the rest of the tournament. Morris has done about his business quietly and has bagged wickets on a consistent basis. He also lauded the bowlers for executing their plans to perfection.
“It was a very pleasing performance from the boys yesterday. To go out and win against RCB was something the boys were preparing well towards. The performance throughout the whole game was great, and even though there was a slight hiccup towards the end of the game in our batting, it was very pleasing to register the win. I feel that our bowlers have been executing their plans pretty well and this win has surely brought back the confidence among the group.”
