ToggleDavid Warner becomes the first cricketer to win three Orange Caps in IPL history. In IPL 2019, Warner won his third IPL Orange Cap after scoring 692 runs in 12 innings with an average of 69.20 and strike-rate of 143.86.
The most run-scorer of every IPL season wins the Orange Cap. Since the inaugural edition, nine different batsmen have won this Orange Cap. Only Chris Gayle and David Warner have won more than one Orange Cap in their IPL careers.
Gayle was the first cricketer to win the two Orange Caps in IPL history (2011 and 2012). Both times he played for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). In IPL 2011, Gayle scored 608 runs in 12 innings with an average of 67.55 and strike-rate 183.13. In the next IPL season, Gayle retained the Orange Cap after scoring 733 runs in 15 innings with an average of 61.08 and strike-rate 160.74. He is the only player in IPL history to retain Orange Cap.

Meanwhile, Warner won his all three Orange Caps playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). His first Orange Cap was in 2015 when he scored 562 runs in 14 innings with an average of 43.23 and strike-rate of 156.54.

Warner won his next Orange Cap in IPL 2017. This time the left-handed batsman scored 641 runs in 14 innings with an average of 58.27 and strike-rate of 141.81.
At the end of IPL 2019, Warner becomes the first batsman to win three IPL Orange Caps.

David Warner’s IPL career record

David Warner is playing IPL from 2009. The left-handed opening batsman is the fourth most run-scorer in IPL history. However, the Australian cricketer is the most IPL run-scorer as an overseas batsman. He has scored 4,706 IPL runs in 126 innings with an average of 43.17 and strike-rate of 142.39. In his IPL career, Warner has scored four centuries and 44 half-centuries which is the most number of 50+ scores for a batsman in IPL history.
