Delhi Capitals (DC) has announced the replacement of injured all-rounder Harshal Patel. Former Mumbai Indians cricketer Jagadeesha Suchith has been named as the replacement of Harshal Patel for the remaining season.

The right-arm pacer Harshal Patel faced a hand injury during the Mohali match against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) on 1st April. Later, the X-ray reports confirmed a fracture in his right hand. According to DC’s official website, his estimated recovery time is around three-four weeks.

The Delhi franchise bought Harshal Patel in 2018 IPL Auction for his base price (INR 20 lakh). In the ongoing IPL season, the right-arm pacer played two matches for the Delhi franchise and picked up two wickets.

Meanwhile, the 25-year-old spin-bowling all-rounder Jagadeesha Suchith has replaced Harshal Patel for the remainder of the season. The Karnataka cricketer was a Mumbai Indians (MI) player from 2015 to 2017 IPL seasons. He played 13 matches in his first IPL season (IPL 2015), and only one match in his second IPL season (IPL 2016) while he wasn’t selected in the playing XIs for the entire IPL 2017.

The left-arm spinner had picked up ten wickets for MI with an average of 36.80. He is also a handy batsman as the left-handed batsman has scored 48 runs in five innings for MI (average 48.00).

In the last two IPL auctions, Jagadeesha Suchith remained unsold. However, he impressed during the 2018/19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. While Karnataka won their maiden Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Jagadeesha Suchith picked up ten wickets in 12 matches with an average of 23.60 and economy rate of 6.55.

Recently, DC management held emergency trials in Kolkata, and Jagadeesha Suchith impressed them in there.

Delhi Capitals are currently standing at the fourth position in the IPL 2019 points table (updated till 13th April 2019) with eight points. They have played seven matches in this season and have won four matches (including one victory in the Super Over).

Delhi Capitals will play their next match on Sunday (14th April) night against the home team Sunrisers Hyderabad at Hyderabad. It will be their second meeting this season. Earlier, they both had met at Delhi on 4th April where SRH won by five wickets (with nine balls remaining).
