IPL 2019: Delhi Capitals Ropes in Sourav Ganguly as an Advisor
Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) led by Shreyas Iyer has tried each and every possible thing to change their fortunes. In the latest development, the Delhi-based IPL team on Thursday (March 14), has roped in former Team India skipper Sourav Ganguly as its advisor for the impending edition of the IPL 2019.
With twelfth edition less than 10 days away, Capitals confirmed the news on its micro-blogging website Twitter while terming Ganguly as the ‘Royal Bengal Tiger’.
It will be interesting on Delhi’s part as the franchise is yet to lift the IPL title. While considering the aggressive approach, Ganguly has a lot on an offer for Delhi which is in itself a good sign for the franchise.
Recently, in a move to revamp, Delhi has changed its name to Capitals from Daredevils.
The southpaw is expected to bring in the wealth of experience for the Capitals, this time around.
Ganguly will work alongside Ricky Ponting, who’s serving as the chief coach for Capitals. Meanwhile, Delhi camp has expressed excitement on the introduction of veteran cricketer

While talking about Ganguly’s IPL career, he has enjoyed his stint thoroughly.
Since the inception of IPL in 2008, Ganguly has represented presented hometown franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). In between, he has also led now-defunct Pune Warriors India (PWI).
Ganguly has featured in 59 matches until 2012. He amassed 1,349 runs at an average of 25.45. Also, he attributed in with seven half-centuries with his highest score of 91.
During the first five IPL editions, Ganguly has bagged 10 wickets while conceding 363 runs off 276 deliveries.
Owing to wholesome changes including the support staff, Delhi has availed the services of local lad Shikhar Dhawan. The southpaw recently represented Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Capitals have retained as many as 14 players while picking 10 players at the IPL 2019 Auction in Jaipur.

Furthermore, in the eleventh edition of IPL, Delhi has on the bottom of the table while losing out on nine games in 14 matches.
In the first two editions of IPL, Delhi has made it to the semi-finals before their downslide continues to haunt the franchise.
In 2012, they’ve qualified for the playoffs, but followed in previous six editions remains history.
This time, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has vowed to leave an impact in the cash-rich league.
Well, Delhi will kick-off their IPL campaign on March 24 against Mumbai Indians (MI) at Wankhede.
