IPL 2019: Getting a Man of the Match for Bowling is Really Pleasing – Hardik Pandya
Mumbai Indians (MI) finished at the top of the points table following their thumping win over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Hardik Pandya, who has been outstanding with the bat in this season, chipped in with the ball today to set up a convincing win for Mumbai.
Asked to bat first, Kolkata managed to post only 130 runs at the end of 20 overs. Chris Lynn went berserk in the first six overs before Hardik Pandya got the first breakthrough. He removed Shubman Gill, who has been in good touch to have Kolkata at 49 for one. Pandya then got the better of dangerous-looking Chris Lynn, as Kolkata couldn’t recover from there. Robin Uthappa‘s sluggish knock of 40 runs from 47 balls and Nitish Rana‘s unbeaten 26 helped them post 130 runs.
Meanwhile, it was an easy chase for the home side who sealed a convincing victory with 23 balls to spare. Rohit Sharma (55*) and Suryakumar Yadav (47*) fine-tuned their skills ahead of the business end. Hardik Pandya seemed delighted to bag the man of the match award for his bowling efforts. He also added it is satisfying as I don’t expect too much from my bowling.
“For sure, getting a Man of the Match for my bowling is really pleasing. To be honest as a batsman, there is nothing better than hitting a ball. People don’t expect a lot from my bowling, neither do I, but it feels nice. Krunal was telling me that I generate the power from my hip and core, but I really don’t know where I get my power from,” Pandya said after the match.
In conclusion, Hardik Pandya said that they are ready for the qualifier game against Chennai Super Kings. He is hopeful to beat Chennai and march towards their fourth IPL trophy.
“Definitely, Chennai is a different challenge, it will be a cracker of a game. We just hope to get the best out fo that one and go through to the finals,” he signed off.
