It is always a dream for any young player to contribute to the success of the team. In fact, it is always a good feeling when a player does well and his performance helps his team in winning the match. Kerala’s promising fast bowler Basil Thampi has the same missions for the upcoming Indian Premier League as he wants to win matches for the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, Thampi believes he has learned a lot from the previous seasons of the league. Thus, he wants to come up with a complete performance. In fact, Sunrisers Hyderabad has a potent bowling line-up and it is not easy for a youngster like Basil Thampi to make the cut in the playing XI at a regular basis.
“This coming season I want to do well. The most important thing is if I get a chance, I want to do well for the team. I want to win matches for the team. From the last experience, I learnt a lot from this team,” Thampi told PTI in an interaction.
On the other hand, Basil Thampi had shot himself in the limelight with his accurate yorker. Furthermore, the 25-year old has a good bouncer under his belt. Consequently, Thampi said he will back his powers in the coming season.
“No, I want to stick to my thing. Because I have good yorkers, I guess, and want to stick to it and, with that, some variations,” the right arm medium pacer said.
“The main thing I learnt was how to prepare the body, that is very important, how to set up your body, that is (also) a very important thing,” he noted.
“It is very challenging to bowl in the IPL because it is a batsman’s game and we all know that. And we should have the confidence to bowl, that is the key. So in the last three years, I got the confidence to bowl at everyone. Whenever I get the ball, I want to deliver my best,” he added.
Basil Thampi is still learning and he will like to keep improving his game. Thampi has shown the promise to do well and he will like to make the most of the opportunities in the Sunrisers Hyderabad camp. Thampi also spoke about the camaraderie with his fellow teammates’ bowlers.
“We know each other. Khaleel, Sandeep and Siddharth Kaul – we played together in India A matches. We are (always) sharing our thoughts on and off the field,” he signed off.
Sunrisers Hyderabad will begin their IPL campaign against Kolkata Knight Riders on 24th March at Eden Gardens.
