IPL 2019: Karn Sharma Praises MS Dhoni; CSK to Start Preparations on March 16
There’s an interesting fact about leg-spinner Karn Sharma, who has won three titles with three different franchises of the Indian Premier League (IPL). In 2016, he represented Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) when they lift their maiden title before joining Mumbai Indians (MI) squad in 2017 and finally when Chennai Super Kings (CSK) returned after a two-year hiatus. The MS Dhoni-led side won their third title in the eleventh edition of the IPL. Now, Super Kings sit at par with Rohit Sharma‘s Indians. Thus, Karn has thanked the franchise and skipper for reposing faith in him for the IPL 2019.
Meanwhile, the defending champions Super Kings will kick off their preparation camp on March 16 (Thursday).
Karna happy on his retaining:
While thanking team management, the 31-year-old Karn has expressed delight in continuing his services for Chennai-based IPL team.
“Feels great to be in Chennai. I would like to thank the CSK management and Mahi Bhai (skipper MS Dhoni) for retaining me,” Karn told CSK digital.
Since making his IPL debut in 2013, Karn has claimed 53 wickets at an average of 26.64. He has bagged two four-wicket hauls with best figures of 4 for 16.
Furthermore, the local cricketers partook in the preparation camp by relying on fitness session on March 6. Pertinently, those players who are participating in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019 are yet to join the net sessions.
Karn alongside Chaitanya Bishnoi, KM Asif and N Jagadeesan took part in the camp.
Besides, the twelfth edition of the IPL will commence from March 23 in Chennai. Super Kings will host Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
In the previous edition, Chennai relied on players with 30-plus age. However, they went on to complement each other by routing Sunrisers Hyderabad eight wickets in the grand finale. Shane Watson slammed unbeaten 117 with the help of 11 fours and eight sixes.
This time around, Chennai is solely relying on their core formed by Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja and South African recruit Faf du Plessis. The mixture of youth and experience will help Chennai is fighting out for retaining the title of the cash-rich league.
For the impending edition, Chennai released England pacer Mark Wood, Kshitiz Sharma and Kanishk Seth. In the 2019 IPL Auction, Chennai availed the services of Mohit Sharma in INR 5 crore. Also, Maharashtra’s Ruturaj Gaikwad bagged INR 20 lakh.
