Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) skipper Dinesh Karthik is adamant in saying that they’re aiming for the best following six straight losses in the ongoing IPL 2019. However, he is hopeful about a promising comeback.
KKR are languishing at the bottom half of the table. The Kolkata-based franchise has won just four matches in 11 games.
The Kolkata-based franchise has faced heat following back-to-back defeats in the twelfth edition of the IPL. However, Karthik is pretty optimistic about turning the tables.
KKR believing, but losing:
While speaking at the post-match presser, Karthik revealed they’re trying to get their combination right. Recently, Karthik has been criticised for too many changes.
“We are trying to make the right changes, we are trying to build the right combinations, and we’re trying to come to every game believing that we can win a game,” Karthik told reporters in Kolkata.
Recently, KKR lost to Rajasthan Royals (RR) by three wickets at home despite Karthik’s 50-ball 97.
KKR was asked to bat first, the hosts post 175 for six in 20 overs. In response, visitors overhauled the target of 176 in 19.2 overs following a 12-ball unbeaten 27-run cameo from Jofra Archer.
Evidently, there was some similarity between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the KKR. Both teams went on to lose six consecutive games in this IPL season.
The 33-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman Karthis reiterated that he has a belief in his team.
“I have belief in my boys, and we’ll come strong every game,” Karthik added.
Karthik faces heat for too many changes:
Besides, Karthik remarked that the players trust the leader. He added they aim to keep the changeroom atmosphere as pleasant as possible.
Karthik stated they are trying cent per cent to make things count when thing tends to get complicated.
“We are trying to keep everyone in a good space, and making sure that the dressing room is good, and they all trust in their leader, and it’s my job to lead from the front, but sometimes results don’t go your way, so it’s always a tough thing to mend, but the fact is that we are trying hard as a team,” Karthik inferred.
Meanwhile, KKR needs to win the remainder of the games to stay in the playoffs. But, things are looking quite dismal with the way the team went on to lose half a dozen games.
Well, KKR will take on Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 28 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
