The defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have achieved a great start in IPL 2019. The three-time IPL champions CSK have won their all three matches in this season. They are now the only team who haven’t suffered a defeat in this season yet.
On Wednesday (3rd April) night, CSK will play their fourth match in this season when they will meet the host side Mumbai Indians (MI) at Wankhede Stadium (Mumbai). MI has also won three IPL trophies, but they haven’t achieved a good start in this IPL season as they have won only one match in their first three matches.
Before their upcoming match against MI, here we will look at CSK’s predicted XI for this match.
The former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson joined CSK for the new season after winning the Player of the Tournament award in PSL 2019. After scoring a duck in the opening match of IPL 2019, he won the Player of the Match award in the next game against Delhi Capitals (DC) for his crucial match-winning performance of 44 runs off 26 balls.
Ambati Rayudu is currently under pressure for his inconsistent batting performances. In recent times, the right-handed batsman has failed to play big innings. While he is playing as an opening batsman for CSK in this IPL season, he has scored 28, 5 and 1 runs respectively in the first three matches.
The most run-scorer in IPL history, Suresh Raina has scored 30s in the last two matches. However, he is a more dangerous player than this.
Kedar Jadhav is majorly playing as a middle-order batsman for CSK rather than as a useful all-rounder. Currently, he is in good form as a middle-order batsman.
MS DHONI (C)
CSK captain MS Dhoni has continued his strong form in this IPL season. After guiding the team to a comfortable victory against Delhi Capitals (32*), he produced a powerful batting performance in their last game against Rajasthan Royals (RR). He won Player of the Match award against RR where he scored unbeaten 75 runs off 46 balls.
Ravindra Jadeja, the Indian all-rounder, has got very limited opportunities in batting, but he has performed well as a left-arm spinner. Though he was expensive in the last match, he performed economically in the first two games of this season.
CSK pace-bowling all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has continued his top-class bowling performances. The right-arm medium-pacer has picked up six wickets in this season. Meanwhile, the right-handed middle-order batsman has got very limited batting opportunities, but still, he has shown powerful batting performances.
Pacer Deepak Chahar has performed very economically in this season. While the right-arm pacer has bagged three wickets in this season, his season economy rate is 4.66.
The right-arm pacer Shardul Thakur has got very limited opportunities in this season, and he has failed to impress in those opportunities. However, he can stay in the playing XI for the MI match due to playing at his home venue.
Mitchell Santner replaced Harbhajan Singh in CSK’s last match against Rajasthan Royals (RR). However, he failed in that game, and Harbhajan Singh has a good chance to return the side. The off-spinner Harbhajan Singh won the Player of the Match award in the opening match of the season against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for his 3/20 bowling figures.
The Proteas leg-spinner Imran Tahir is performing dominantly in this IPL season. While he has picked up six wickets in this season, his season economy rate is 5.20.
