Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) once again produced an outstanding display of cricket as they beat Rajasthan Royals (RR) convincingly to script back to back wins at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Openers win it for Kolkata
Chasing a modest target, Sunil Narine and Chris Lynn provided Kolkata Knight Riders with a blistering start. Narine took 22 runs in the second over of Krishnappa Gowtham to set the tone for the chase. They crossed their 50 runs within 4.1 overs – fastest 50 in the tournament in the so far. The openers continued on their onslaught as they posted 65 runs in the powerplays. However, against the run of play, Shreyas Gopal provided the first breakthrough dismissing Narine (47 off 24) after Steven Smith grabbed a brilliant reflex catch.

The departure of Narine opened an opportunity as Gopal got the better of Chris Lynn. With 114 for two, Robin Uthappa wins it for the Kolkata Knight Riders with eight wickets in hand.
Previously, Steven Smith and Jos Buttler powered Rajasthan Royals to 139 runs in the 20 overs. The wicket was a bit on the slower side as Prasidh Krishna provided the visiting team with an outstanding start getting Ajinkya Rahane LBW. Since then, Buttler and Smith added 72 runs for the second wicket to stable their innings. The batsmen found it hard to play their shots with the ball coming in slow. The Kolkata Knight Riders spinners bowled some outstanding line and length to make it tough for the Rajasthan Royals batters.

Harry Gurney – who is making his debut in the IPL was outstanding mixing the slowers ones beautifully. He dismissed Buttler at the right time to keep the scoreboard in check. However, Steven Smith continued to find gaps as he rotated the strike while the odd boundaries kept coming. Smith remained unbeaten on 73 runs as Rajasthan Royals managed to post 139 runs on the board.
This win will provide a massive confidence booster to the Kolkata Knight Riders going deep into the tournament.
Twitter Reactions:
The bails have to fall off when the ball hits them squarely. It doesn't matter how good they look when they light up. The bowler has got the batsman out and he is still batting.

Remove Rahane from team and captaincy. Why is he saving Gopal? Will he give him the bowling when KKR are 100 up??? RR deserve to lose #RRvKKR

The heavy bails have created the problem. If TV wants lighted bails, the may be the rules should be changed –
The bails don't need to fall. If they are lighted, the batsman is out.

Looks like KKR would have scored a certain 220+ in this same pitch, had they batted first. #RRvKKR
