Apr 24, 2019 at 7:57 PM
Despite languishing at the bottom half-of-the table, Kolkata Knight Riders vs Rajasthan Royals game is all set to entice many at the Eden Gardens. The youngsters on a frequent basis have shown what they’re capable of. All in all, Thursday’s fixture holds some importance as both teams eye to shrug-off poor run in the IPL 2019. So far, the match prediction has proved to be tricky from time-to-time.
The onus will be on senior campaigners to win those crucial moments. KKR has an advantage at home with some prominent hard-hitters ticking the boxes. Overall, it’s a do-or-die game for hosts with Royals relying on other team results too.
In the 38th match, KKR received a beating from Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), whereas, Delhi Capitals (DC) thump Royals by six wickets in Jaipur on April 22.
With KKR listed sixth on the points table following five losses on the trot, Royals have remained stagnant at a seventh spot ahead of Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) game against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP).
Both the teams are struggling even though a decent start from KKR while riding on Andre Russell’s brute show. The muscular Windies will be keen to hit big and long at KKR’s den.
Again KKR would be hopeful to see Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine laying a solid foundation. On the other side, following century at home Ajinkya Rahane would be confident to continue with his domination.
Also, Steven Smith has looked in ominous touch since shouldering the responsibility.
Head to Head:
Overall 20; KKR 10, RR 9
Venue Eden Gardens: 8 KKR 6, RR 1
Predicted Playing XI:
KKR: Chris Lynn, Dinesh Karthik (c & wk), Piyush Chawla, Sunil Narine, Harry Gurney, Andre Russell, Shubman Gill, Nitish Rana, KC Cariappa, Rinku Singh, and Yarra Prithviraj
RR: Ajinkya Rahane, Sanju Samson (wk), Steven Smith (c), Ben Stokes, Riyan Parag, Dhawal Kulkarni, Stuart Binny, Ashton Turner, Shreyas Gopal, Jofra Archer and Jaydev Unadkat
Pitch Report:
It’s going to be a major contest between bat and the ball. The surface has traditionally helped the seamers.
Also, by looking at the pitch, it has offered somewhat monument to the batters given to the fast outfield.
Weather Forecast:
At the Eden Gardens it will be hot and humid on Thursday with temperature reaching to 37 degree Celsius. Also, the Sunny day will allow the complete 40-over game.
The minimum temperature will be 26 degree centigrade which doesn’t mean things would ease out late in the night.
The humidity will exceed to 84 per cent after 10:00 PM IST which means it would be terrible experience for the bowlers to deliver at the fag end of the game.
Match Prediction:
Somewhat KKR has availed the services of some quality players in the line-up. The hosts looked bleak in the last five outings. Dinesh Karthik would be keen to use his resources to perfection.
The iconic Eden Gardens is expected to be full of runs. We could expect 175-plus on the track.
The team winning the toss would opt to chase the target. Overll, KKR are the favourites for the game despite a terrible run.
