IPL 2019, Match 55: KXIP vs CSK – Chennai Super Kings’ Predicted Playing XI

The dominating force in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Chennai Super Kings are having a sort of an affair with the playoffs. So far, despite missing out between 2016 and 2017 in the IPL, CSK has made it to the 10 playoffs under the dynamic leadership of MS Dhoni. Although, we’re expecting a couple of changes given to the Chennai Super Kings’ predicted playing XI.

On the other side, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) led by Ravichandran Ashwin are already out of the playoffs race after the seven-wicket loss against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). It’s more of a dead-rubber. However, CSK would be keen to claim 20 points in the group stage encounters – to finish well on the ladder.

Here’s the Chennai Super Kings’ Predicted Playing XI:

Shane Watson:

The right-handed top-order batsman Shane Watson got dismissed on nought in the previous game against Delhi Capitals (DC). However, the 96-run innings has been his only highlight for this entire season.

On the other way, management has shown faith in him and he is equally pushing himself to hit the form.

Faf du Plessis:

South African Faf du Plessis is the fourth highest run-getter for the CSK in the IPL 2019. After missing on five games, Du Plessis had accumulated 218 runs in eight innings at an average of 31.14.

Du Plessis’ cameos at the top have played a crucial role for the reigning champions.

Murali Vijay:

It’s likely that Ambati could make his way for Murali Vijay. The local lad has made the only appearance in this season to score 38.

Vijay has the potential to play a quickfire knock at the top. While considering his game, Vijay is equally tested in those circumstances way before.

Suresh Raina:

The southpaw Suresh Raina has been delivering goods for his team. The second most run-getter for the CSK has accumulated 306 runs in 13 innings at an average of 25.50.

He would be eager to continue the way he set things up for the CSK against Capitals.

MS Dhoni:

MS Dhoni has been exceptional with the bat. His consistent show has reaped rewards for his time during the ongoing edition.

Dhoni during the crunch situations of the game has emerged as a saviour for the CSK. He has amassed 358 runs in 13 innings at an incredible average of 119.33.

Dwayne Bravo:

Dwayne Bravo has bagged nine wickets in eight matches. However, he couldn’t do much with his bat.

Known for his acrobatics, Bravo is capable of winning the game single-handedly on his given day.

In the previous fixture, he couldn’t get a chance to bat, but he proved economical with a ball in hand.

Kedar Jadhav:

Kedar Jadhav had a mixed show in the IPL 2019. He has garnered 162 runs at an average of 20.25. He would be desperate to shoulder the responsibility before representing his side in the playoffs.

Ravindra Jadeja:

In the previous encounter, Ravindra Jadeja has played a cameo off 10-ball 25. He averages 33.67 in eight matches, so far.

Jadeja, who’s a swift mover on the field, has a major role to play in the impending game.

Imran Tahir:

Star leg-spinner Imran Tahir has done nothing wrong. Tahir, who bagged two four-wicket hauls, is the leading wicket-taker for the CSK. He has claimed 21 scalps in 12 matches.

All in all, he’s a threat.

Harbhajan Singh:

The premium off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has got a limited opportunity despite a sensational start to the season.

In seven matches, Harbhajan has claimed 10 wickets. Known for stemming the run flow, Harbhajan has been a vital cog in the bowling department for Chennai.

Mohit Sharma:

As Deepak Chahar, the second leading wicket-taker (16) for the CSK, is expected to be rested for a game, we could witness Mohit Sharma in the playing XI.

He has played a solitary match so far in the IPL 2019. He is known for taking wickets early on. Overall, he has featured in 85 matches since 2013.

While bagging 91 wickets, Mohit has maintained his bowling average as 26.64.
