So far, in the IPL 2019, Kings XI Punjab’s (KXIP) openers; Chris Gayle and KL Rahul have done exceedingly well for their franchise. The duo has scored the bulk of the runs for their team in the ongoing IPL 2019. Thus, it saw their teammate Mayank Agarwal praising their consistent show with the bat.
The promising batsman Agarwal maintained they have raised the bar of the team early on.
Having the regard for a senior player like Gayle, Agarwal remarked the duo has executed team’s plans to perfection at the top.
Chris Gayle and KL Rahul scored 820 runs in combination during the IPL 2019:
Gayle and Rahul are placed third and fifth on the list of highest run-getters in the IPL 2019 respectively. Gayle has accumulated 421 runs in nine innings, whereas, Rahul scored 399 runs in 10 innings.
Besides, Agarwal has enjoyed his batting with veteran Gayle. He believes the Windies superstar has helped his partners – to ease out things with his pyrotechnics.
On the eve of the game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Agarwal added it’s a good sight to see their openers going out and scoring runs for the team.
“It is amazing to have both of them at the top of the order. They are almost always setting it up for us. You just have to go out there, execute plans. It is good if your openers can go out there and get runs, nothing like it,” PTI quoted Agarwal as saying.
Furthermore, Agarwal believes Ravichandran Ashwin has marshalled his troops quite well. He maintained Ashwin shares a good bond with the players while giving tidbits.
“He is also a great communicator and goes out to every player with inputs,” Agarwal said.
KXIP has to win as many games as possible:
While speaking about the playoffs, Agarwal said they need to win at least three matches out of four.
However, he added that they need to focus on one game at a time.
“The thought process is very simple for us in the side. We have got to win three games out of four and we have got to take one game at a time, and going out there and winning those games,” Agarwal added.
With Punjab placed fifth on the points table following five wins, Agarwal reckons that if the team managed to regain the momentum, they will make it to the playoffs with some confidence.
“As a team, if we can get momentum now and start winning now, back-to-back games, nothing like it going into the playoffs with some momentum,” Agarwal added.
Mayank himself has scored 227 runs in nine innings at an average of 25.22 He has scored runs at the strike-rate of 139.26.
