Delhi Capitals are a step away to land foot into their first-ever finale of the Indian Premier League (IPL). In the IPL 2019, Shreyas Iyer side looked altogether a different unit with most of their players know their roles pretty well. However, it would be interesting to see Delhi Capitals’ predicted playing XI.
Capitals’ story is more about courage and commitment as the team advisor Sourav Ganguly and head coach Ricky Ponting has given vital inputs to the youngsters.
As we’re at the business end of the tournament, Capitals will take on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the qualifier second on May 10, to decide the fate of their maiden finale.
They’re keen to give a tough time to the reigning champions CSK after breaking into the final four since 2012.
Here’s Delhi Capitals’ predicted playing XI:
Shikhar Dhawan:
The classic-looking Shikhar Dhawan has become first to amass 500 runs for the Capitals in IPL 2019. So far, he has given a quality start which further saw his knock helping team’s cause.
He’s all set to shoulder the responsibility in the virtual knockout.
Prithvi Shaw:
After struggling to score runs for his team, Prithvi Shaw has made a strong return with 38-ball 56 in the eliminator on May 8.
Shaw has slammed four fours and two sixes during his knock to provide a quality start at the top.
He is energetic to continue with his masterclass stroke-making.
Shaw has accumulated 348 runs in 15 innings at an average of 23.20. But, he is a far better player than what numbers has unfolded.
Shreyas Iyer:
Shreyas Iyer has faltered in the crucial game, but he’s second on the list with 450 runs at an average of 32.14.
Iyer has marshalled his troops well which further saw him using bowlers. He would be eager to give a solid start to the Capitals in the must-win game.
The top-order batsman Iyer has shown commitment by playing a major role for the rejuvenated Capitals.
Rishabh Pant:
Wicketkeeper-batsman Pant is at par in terms of runs with Iyer. In the eliminator, Pant has slammed 21-ball 49 with the help of five sixes and two fours.
But, he has often failed when it came to finishing off the games. It’s pertinent to state that an aggressive brand of cricket will help Capitals in the much-awaited contest.
Colin Munro:
Colin Munro, who came in place of Colin Ingram got off to a start. But he has failed to extend his innings.
The explosive batsman is, however, capable of flaying any potent bowling attack.
Sherfane Rutherford:
Sherfane Rutherford has faced a heat apart from his unbeaten cameo of 13-ball 28. Overall, he has amassed 63 runs in six innings. He would be aiming to give his best in the crucial fixture
In the previous game, Rutherford has managed to score 12-ball nine.
Axar Patel:
Axar Patel went wicketless in his quota of four overs, but given to his ability, he could deceive the batters on his day.
He couldn’t do much with the bat when he faced three balls for a nought.
Keemo Paul:
Keemo Paul has featured in seven matches to claim ten wickets. The Windies prospect has bagged three crucial wickets while conceding 32 runs in four overs.
Also, he has hit the winning runs on the penultimate delivery of Capitals innings when he smoked the ball for a four.
Ishant Sharma:
The lanky pacer Ishant Sharma has managed to bag two wickets in four overs against Hyderabad.
He could be a decisive factor with the ball while making most of his experience.
Trent Boult:
The speedster has leaked runs in the previous game. In a couple of matches, Boult has somewhat found his rhythm.
Moreover, he would be raring to go in Qualifier 2nd against the CSK.
In four matches, Boult has managed to pick four scalps, and he would be warming up to make most of the opportunity.
Amit Mishra:
The experience leg-spinner Amit Mishra has bowled remarkably well in the previous encounter. The wily customer has conceded just 16 runs in his quota of four overs.
Besides, he’s the fourth leading wicket-taker for the Capitals with ten wickets in as many matches.
