IPL 2019, RCB vs KXIP: We Are Doing Good as a Team – AB de Villiers
Mr 360 AB de Villiers blasted 44-ball 82. His whirlwind knock has propelled hosts to 202 for four in 20 overs. The right-handed stalwart for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), de Villiers has taken the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) bowlers to the cleaners. He clobbered seven sixes apart from three fours.
As RCB has slammed 64 off last 18 balls, de Villiers hit a monstrous six on the bowling off Mohammed Shami which landed on the rooftop of the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. He expressed himself by entertaining the Bengaluru crowd before Hardus Viljoen leaked 27 runs in the 20th over of RCB’s innings.
However, Umesh Yadav alongside Navdeep Saini bowled well as they shared five wickets between them.
Eventually, it helped hosts to win their all-important game by 17 runs. The hosts went on to win their third consecutive game of the IPL season 12.
The visitors were going good at one stage. They posted 105 for one in 10 overs before Moeen Ali dismissed in-form KL Rahul.
In the end, Ravichandran Ashwin-led side was restricted at 185 for seven in 20 overs.
Earlier, the RCB led by Virat Kohli has lost six matches on the trot, as the skipper bagged an unwanted record. However, the improvement and contribution from players saw RCB coming from the behind – to win games when they’re hanging on the thin thread.
On being adjudged Man of the Match, de Villiers, has credited the all-round show. He maintained the unit is doing an outstanding job, of late.
The veteran batsman reiterated that things tend to get easier in the second innings and he tried to stay composed at the fag end of the innings.
“I tried to stay calm in the last few overs. We know our home ground very well and we are doing things well now. We are doing good as a team now. I still think 160 was a par score. But it gets easier in the second innings,” de Villiers said during a post-match presentation.
Now, with this recent win, Bangalore-based franchise has moved to No. 7. So far, they’ve won four out of 11 matches.
But, they have dropped as many as 22 catches in this season which is a worrying sign for the RCB.
They’ve to win the remainder of the games to stay in the contest of the ongoing twelfth edition of the lucrative league.
RCB is set to face high-flying Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 28 at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi.
