The exact date of when the South African players will land in India for the IPL 2019 is yet to be known and a final decision on it is expected to come out today.

As per a report in IANS, CSA CEO Thabang Moroe, President Chris Nenzani and head coach Ottis Gibson will hold a meeting on the topic.

It is to be noted that Sri Lanka’s tour of South Africa ends on March 24, a day after IPL 2019 starts.

This will see players like Faf du Plessis, Quinton de Kock, Kagiso Rabaa miss initial matches of the league.

South Africa are yet to announce their squad for the T20I series.

Should they opt to allow these players to play in IPL right from the start, they will miss the international fixtures.

It will be interesting to see if they are released for IPL or will the South African players land in India only after completing international duty.

In past, few of the England players have missed international fixtures to play in IPL as they were rested from that series.

An official date of when South African players will leave IPL is also expected to come out.

South Africa do not play an international fixture after March 24 but the team will start preparing for World Cup earlier in May, which can see their players leaving the league early.

The players from England will return to the country before April 25.

New Zealand players are allowed to play the full season.

The Australian players will have to follow strict guidelines as they will have a late arrival in IPL and will also leave before May 1

Cricket South Africa is yet to take a call on that and an update about it is expected to come out today.

The 12th edition of IPL starts on March 23 with defending champions Chennai Super Kings taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore.

South African skipper Faf du Plesiss is a part of Chennai Super Kings.

For now, BCCI has just announced the fixtures for the first two weeks of IPL.

Now when the election commission has confirmed the dates of General Elections, the board will soon come out with the complete schedule of the league soon.
