Sunrisers Hyderabad head coach Tom Moody has revealed that replacement for David Warner in the next match against Mumbai Indians. Warner had a sublime season for the Orange Army as he amassed 692 runs in the 12 matches he played for the franchise. However, Warner is now back in Australia to prepare for the upcoming World Cup.
Thus, Sunrisers Hyderabad has big shoes to fill in as Warner was in sublime form for the one-time champions. Meanwhile, Martin Guptill, who has proved his credentials in the T20 format would be a like for like replacement for David Warner. However, Tom Moody has revealed that they are looking at Billy Stanlake for the track like Wankhede Stadium, which is a paradise for the batters.
Martin Guptill or Billy Stanlake?
“We have got a few options. Of course, Guptill is the obvious one. Being a world class opener himself, he is a like-for-like replacement. But we are also looking at someone like a Billy Stanlake at a venue like this,” Moody elaborated.
On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad has 12 points under their belt after six wins in 12 matches they have played. Thus, the Orange army can get to 16 points if they manage to win their remaining two league matches.
Meanwhile, Tom Moody is also aware of in-form Hardik Pandya. The all-rounder had smashed a blistering knock of 91 runs off just 34 balls in their previous match against Kolkata Knight Riders.
“There are a number of players playing in the tournament like Hardik – they are impact players, dangerous players. The bottom line is you need to remove them, you need to get them out because if they spend time in the middle, they are going to hurt you,” said Moody at the media conference.
Moody said that the team has their plans in place for the likes of Hardik Pandya as well as Kieron Pollard, who have the skills to change the complexion of the game in a matter of overs.
“We have our plans set for the likes of Hardik. Kieron Pollard is another one, who can cause havoc at the back-end of T20 games,” added Moody.
Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians will take on each other at latter’s home ground on 2nd May 2019.
