Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first in the final of the IPL 2019 against Chennai Super Kings. The Men in Blue got off to a flying start as Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock was able to hit the ground running. The opening pair added 45 runs in the first five overs. However, Mumbai Indians veered off the track as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Quinton de Kock was late in his shot and Shardul Thakur got the first wicket of the day when the ball ballooned to MS Dhoni. Chennai Super Kings captain backed Deepak to bowl one more despite conceding 22 runs in the first two overs as a wicket had felt down. Raina was plumbed in front of the wickets by Rahul Chahar. Jasprit Bumrah was able to get the wicket of Ambati Rayudu with an accurate bouncer.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians got the big wicket of MS Dhoni when the captain ran for the over-throw run. However, he was short of his crease.
