ToggleMumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first in the final of the IPL 2019 against Chennai Super Kings. The Men in Blue got off to a flying start as Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock was able to hit the ground running. The opening pair added 45 runs in the first five overs. However, Mumbai Indians veered off the track as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals.
Quinton de Kock was late in his shot and Shardul Thakur got the first wicket of the day when the ball ballooned to MS Dhoni. Chennai Super Kings captain backed Deepak to bowl one more despite conceding 22 runs in the first two overs as a wicket had felt down. Chahar bowled a fine slower one to disguise Rohit Sharma and got the big fish.

Deepak Chahar was brilliant.
Meanwhile, Kieron Pollard was the only Mumbai Indians batsman who could get going after Quinton de Kock gave a quick start. However, Pollard could not get support from the other end. Pollard scored a fine knock of 41 runs from 25 balls with the help of three fours and as many sixes.
Hardik Pandya threatened to play another fine finishing knock but the right-hander’s knock was put paid by a perfect yorker from Deepak Chahar. The young fast bowler bowled with fire as he scalped three wickets and conceded only 26 runs in his four overs quota.
Shardul Thakur snared two wickets and conceded 37 runs in his four overs. Furthermore, Imran Tahir took two wickets as he gave away 23 runs in the three overs. Moreover, Tahir also leapfrogged Kagiso Rabada to be the leading wicket-taker in the tournament.

Shane Watson kept Chennai in the game.
On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings got off to a good start as Faf du Plessis timed the ball with perfection. However, Krunal Pandya intentionally bowled a wide ball when he saw Faf advancing down the track. Subsequently, Suresh Raina struggled to get going as he scored eight runs from 14 balls. Raina was plumbed in front of the wickets by Rahul Chahar. Jasprit Bumrah was able to get the wicket of Ambati Rayudu with an accurate bouncer.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians got the big wicket of MS Dhoni when the captain ran for the over-throw run. However, he was short of his crease. Shane Watson continued his love affair of scoring runs in the IPL final as he scored 50 runs from 44 balls and brought up his 19th IPL fifty. Watson scored a fine knock of 80 runs from 59 balls.

Brilliant calmness under pressure from Mumbai. Bumrah's gesture when De Kock missed the last ball and it went for 4 Byes showed his maturity and calmness and Rohit also handled the pressure extremely well. Well tried Chennai. But congratulations Mumbai on a 4th title #MIvCSK

Can't ask for a better final. Down to Malinga!! How many would have given him that last over!
— Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) May 12, 2019
Shane Watson is a big match player. No wonder MS Dhoni kept giving him chances during the entire season despite he being too low on scores on most occasions. #CSKvMI #IPL2019Final

So what were we told when in school junior teams? Catches win matches? Remember? True of major finals too.

All class from Bumrah. To actually console De Kock despite that lapse at that stage.
— Shashank Kishore (@captainshanky) May 12, 2019
What did you make of that run out?
— Gaurav Kapur (@gauravkapur) May 12, 2019
Master stroke from Dhoni… getting Chahar back after being hit for 22 off 2. Chahar gets Rohit!
So this is the thing….MI have all boxes ticked, but CSK have Dhoni!?#IPLFinal2019— Sanjay Manjrekar (@sanjaymanjrekar) May 12, 2019
I don't know who'll win this match, but I do know that Rahul Chahar will play for India. What a spell in a big final. He started MI's comeback!

Pollard showed his class tonight. It was like Hercules chained to the wall with Dhoni’s field. But still managed to get 41 off 25. ???#CSKvMI

— Aakash Chopra (@cricketaakash) May 12, 2019
Convocation done. Now watching the #IPL2019Final. Here's a thought. Doesn't matter if you need him earlier or not, just pick Watson in knockout games!
— Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) May 12, 2019
In World Cup year, if CSK wins #IPL12 then there's good chance that #INDIANTEAM will win #iccworldcup. Remember 2011. ?
— Kushan Sarkar (@kushansarkar) May 12, 2019
I can't believe Watson wanted to attack Bumrah. That dropped catch is a bonus for CSK
— Nikhil ? (@CricCrazyNIKS) May 12, 2019
Got to admire Bumrah's composure there. A catch that straightforward, being dropped at this stage. And all the guy does is laugh and get on with it. What a guy. #MIvsCSK
