In a recently-held game of the IPL 2019, between Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) held at the PCA Stadium Mohali, David Warner took a sly dig at KXIP skipper Ravichandran Ashwin in the wake up of recent Manakading controversy. So far, the Indian Premier League (IPL), has been marred by the umpiring howlers too.

The incident unfolded when Ashwin was bowling the first delivery of seventh over. With Vijay Shakar facing Ashwin, Warner who ambled forward, however, kept his bat grounded before Ashwin reached to the stride of his delivery.

Meanwhile, as soon as Ashwin passed the stumps in his followthrough, Warner looked back before he craned his neck to slid bat to and fro.

Even during his cautious approach, Warner of Monday (April 8) was involved in an unfortunate run-out of all-rounder Mohammad Nabi.

Evidently, it’s a clear picture of antics from Australian cricketer, who had a head down the pitch (for Mujeeb Ur Rahman), whereas, he opted altogether for a different stance when it was revealed on a giant screen.

Cautious or callous approach?

Interestingly, Warner kept dagging a willow to indicate Ashwin he is well behind the popping crease. Well,  The demarcation of the lines, holds the beauty of cricket.

Recently, the controversy embroiled when Ashwin Mankaded Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on March 25.

Earlier, the barrage of words on the field has further witnessed a sudden surge regarding the Mankading debate. Although, Ashwin has warned Buttler for a couple of times before Mankading Buttler.

However, many believed it’s against the spirit of the game, but Ashwin has received backing from the senior cricketers too, in this regard.

Warner continued his rich vein of form:

With his team in dire straits, Warner managed to bail out his team with the bat. He remained unbeaten on 70 off 62 balls. The southpaw smashed six fours and a six while playing at the strike-rate of 112.90.

Besides, the hosts chased down the thriller on the penultimate ball of 20th over with six wickets in hand.

KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal slammed a fifty each to power KXIP to a much-awaited win. Agarwal slammed 43-ball 55 and Rahul remained unbeaten on 71 off 53 balls.
