It wasn’t a season that Royal Challengers Bangalore has ever wanted. Be it the result or the luck factor or the umpiring blunder, they were always on the wrong side of things, which saw them losing their way in the tournament. However, the bowling coach Ashish Nehra is hopeful of RCB’s playoff chances.

So far, Royal Challengers Bangalore has tasted the success only once in the tournament, which came against Kings XI Punjab. Apart from that, they lost 7 games, which saw them at the bottom of the table.

We need to take one game at a time – Ashish Nehra

Speaking of the qualification, Ashish Nehra quoted that they are hopeful of winning the remaining games in the tournament. Nehra highlighted the instances when a few franchises made their way into the playoff zone with 14 points in their kitty.

“We are always hopeful. We have seen teams qualifying by winning their last six games… teams have qualified with 14 points,” RCB bowling coach Ashish Nehra said on Thursday.

He also noted that they are the 2-3 games in the tournament, where they would have ended on the right side of things but unfortunately, ended up on the losing side for obvious reasons. However, he wants to take one game each from now.

“But we are not looking at the qualification equation now. We need to take one game at a time. We lost a couple of really close ones. It’s all about winning those moments which we could not do. Otherwise, we could have had 6-8 points if not more,” he felt.

Ashish Nehra backed his bowlers:

So far, RCB has turned out to be one of the poor bowling departments. However, Nehra believes that they got the best bowling arsenal in their kitty, especially, with three Indian fast bowlers, who can hit 140 Kmph on a regular basis.

“Skill-wise, I don’t think there’s any other team which has got three good fast bowlers. We have three Indian pacers who can bowl at 140 Kmph. Yes, they have not bowled the way they would have liked to, at the death or up front. But they can do better than this,” the former India pacer opined.

Dale Steyn Could play:

The South African speedster, Dale Steyn, who has been the late recruitment has got high chances to make into the playing XI. Nehra believes that his experience will be key for the team.

“He has a high chance of playing tomorrow. He is a very experienced campaigner and we have all seen him doing so well not only in Test cricket but for other franchises also, Ashish Nehra inferred.

Well, it would be interesting to see how RCB would approach the remaining part of the Indian Premier League 2019. They got the required players to deliver goods but the lack of application is denting their chances.
