In the last game against Sunrisers Hyderabad, we came across a rare sight of the skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is out of the playing XI. The MS Dhoni-less Chennai Super Kings have thrashed pretty easily by the home franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad. Meanwhile, the head coach Stephen Fleming highlights the importance of MS Dhoni for CSK.
Recently, the skipper of Chennai Super Kings Mahendra Singh Dhoni quoted that he got a bit of back spasm, which is troubling a bit for him. However, Dhoni went on to confirm saying that he would be fine in a quick time.
MS Dhoni is in a great form – Stephen Fleming
Speaking of the impact of MS Dhoni, Fleming quoted that it is tough to win a game when MS Dhoni isn’t in the playing XI. He believes that it is always tough to fill a hole in the side when a key player like MSD sat out of the team owing to injury.
Yeah, it is [difficult],” he said. “He is a great player. Whenever a great player isn’t in your side, it means there is a hole to fill, and he has been in great form. So it does have an impact on your side, as well as the captaincy.”
He explained that they need to make a lot of adjustments when you miss your best player, who also leads the team. However, Fleming believes that they can be a little bit more competitive than the way they were outplayed in Hyderabad.
“You get used to a certain style of play and when you lose arguably your best player and your captain, you have to make adjustments but it doesn’t mean that we are not competitive,” he added.
On Pitch and Weather conditions:
Speaking of the pitch, Fleming believes that it has always offered runs for the teams. However, he doesn’t want to assume anything as of now, as the continuous rain in the last couple of days might have changed the track.
“It’s obviously overcast and a little bit damp around, so you need to wait 24 hours, it’s going to change a lot in nature,” he said. “I think it will be a good track, possibly a high-scoring game. But we’ll read it tomorrow and make an assessment. You can’t assume it is going to be 200 vs 200,” he added.
Well, it would be interesting to see how things would pan out in their upcoming clash. The hosts Royal Challengers Bangalore are desperately waiting for yet another victory in their bank.
