IPL 2020: Top Three Teams Who Majorly Depend On Overseas Cricketers

IPL 2020 is going to start soon and all the eight franchises are focusing to make their strong start in the new IPL season. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will host the complete IPL 2020 between 19th September and 10th November 2020.

Just like the Indian cricketers, the overseas cricketers are equally important for every IPL team. As an IPL team can choose a maximum of four overseas cricketers in the playing XI, every team generally tries to select their best four overseas cricketers in every game.

Well, some IPL teams have highly strong overseas cricketers and these teams majorly depend on their performances.

Here we are talking about the top three teams who are majorly depended on the overseas cricketers during the IPL 2020

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)

Australian cricketer, David Warner has returned to the captaincy role of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for the IPL 2020. Under his captaincy, SRH won their maiden IPL trophy in 2016 edition.

Their success in batting is currently hugely depended on the performances of the overseas cricketers. David Warner and English wicket-keeper batsman Jonny Bairstow are the most dangerous opening partners while their previous captain, New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson has also the ability to control the innings.

They also have Mitchell Marsh and Fabian Allen, but they are unlikely to be the first-choice players. SRH middle-order batting success is majorly depending on the Indian cricketer Manish Pandey.

SRH have the strong Indian pace bowling line-up which makes the Aussie pacer Billy Stanlake as the second choice bowler for the side. However, Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan and/or all-rounder Mohammad Nabi are favourite for the spin-bowling option.

So, the overall success of the SRH team in the IPL 2020 is majorly depended on the overseas players.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)

The two-time IPL champions (2012 and 2014) Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) also have some strong overseas cricketers who have the abilities to control the game and guide the team to the success.

The Caribbean all-rounder Andre Russell played a big role for the KKR in the last IPL season as he won the Most Valuable Player award for his incredible all-round performances. In the IPL 2019, Russell was the most run-scorer (510 runs) as well as most wicket-taker (11 wickets) for KKR.

Another Caribbean all-rounder Sunil Narine has played very important roles for KKR since 2012. While he can lead the bowling line-up with his controlled bowling performances, he can provide a powerful start as an opening batsman in the mandatory powerplay.

KKR have added English limited-overs captain Eoin Morgan for this IPL season. At present, Morgan is one of the consistent limited-overs batsmen, and the franchise is hopeful to see his great batting during the IPL 2020.

Either Australian right-arm fast bowler Pat Cummins or New Zealand right-arm fast bowler Lockie Ferguson will lead their pace bowling line-up during the upcoming IPL tournament.

Moreover, KKR also have the young English wicketkeeper-batsman Tom Banton, who can open for the KKR. Australian off-spinner Chris Green is another spin-bowling option for this team.

Talking about some strong Indian cricketers in this side, these names are captain Dinesh Karthik, left-arm chinaman Kuldeep Yadav, youngster Shubman Gill etc.

Rajasthan Royals (RR)

The inaugural IPL trophy winners (2008) Rajasthan Royals (RR) are widely depended on the overseas cricketers during the IPL 2020.

In the batting line-up, English wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler can provide the strong start as an opener while Australian cricketer and present Rajasthan Royals captain Steven Smith can control their innings.

English all-rounder Ben Stokes is currently the best all-rounder in the cricket world, but his availability in the IPL 2020 is highly doubtful due to his father’s illness. Also, to strengthen their middle-order batting, Rajasthan Royals have added the experienced South African cricketer David Miller.

On the other hand, Barbados-born England fast bowler Jofra Archer is likely to continue his leadership role in the pace bowling line-up of this team. They have further added Australian right-arm pacer Andrew Tye, England right-arm pacer Tom Curran and Jamaican right-arm fast bowler Oshane Thomas in the pace-bowling line-up.

In the meantime, they have some crucial Indian cricketers like Robin Uthappa, Sanju Samson, Mayank Markande, Shreyas Gopal, Jaydev Undakat and Varun Aaron etc.
