SunRisers Hyderabad premier bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar is likely to miss out on further matches of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 after sustaining a hip injury during the match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). It is surely a severe blow for SRH as Bhuvi spearhead their bowling attack.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, after bowling the first ball of the 19th over of CSK’s innings, had to leave the field after he was tossing in pain. Notably, the pacer had returned after recovering from a sports hernia. He was out of the game for over an extended period as he went under surgery and then rehabilitation period.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar ruled out of IPL 2020:
Speaking to ANI, sources in the team confirmed that the pacer will have to skip the cash-rich league due to the injury.
“Bhuvi will not be able to take further part in this year’s tournament as he has been ruled out with a hip injury. A big blow for sure as he is someone who leads the bowling unit and is also an integral part of the leadership group on the ground,” the source said.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar played in four matches for SunRisers Hyderabad where he picked up three wickets at the economy rate of 6.98. In his absence, the franchise might call out for a replacement, or maybe a youngster in the squad can get the opportunity. But it would be hard for SRH to find a replacement for such an experienced player.
If Bhuvneshwar Kumar doesn’t recover on time, he might also miss India tour of Australia later this year. India is set to play bilateral series across all the formats.
