The BCCI sources have confirmed that not only the IPL 2020 but also the domestic tournaments will take place behind closed doors. Ministry of Health Affairs has given a nod to open the stadiums across the country, which has given a new ray of hope to the administrators. Thus, the IPL could be hosted if the situation improves. It is reported that the cash-rich could take place in October-November.

The T20 World Cup set to be played in Australia is expected to be deferred. However, the final call is to be taken in the ICC board meeting on May 28. There is no doubt that the tournaments will be played behind closed doors in order to take no risk.

BCCI can host domestic tournaments before they plan to travel overseas or host any other team for the International series. The players have not played any form of cricket in more than two months and they would like to get the much-needed practice under their belt.

“Since physical distancing is going to be the norm, all matches from here on would be played without spectators as a precautionary measure,” a BCCI source told Sportskeeda.

“With IPL being the top priority without compromising the health of the cricketers and other stake-holders, the board is also prioritising the public health and safety. Therefore, it is important to look beyond IPL for cricket matches without spectators,” the source said.

In fact, it is also known that there isn’t a lot of crowd in the domestic matches and the players are used to play with hardly any fans in the stadiums. However, the major difference will felt for the International matches where the people turn out in numbers especially in India.

Meanwhile, BCCI is going to focus on bilateral series to make up for the monetary losses. Sri Lanka cricket board is ready to host India for three ODIs and three T20Is in July and the final decision is yet to be taken.

It is reported that for every match which is played behind closed doors, BCCI will lose a huge amount of INR six crores. Furthermore, the Indian board will lose a whopping amount of INR 4000 crores if the IPL doesn’t happen. In that case, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has revealed that they will be forced to cut the player’s salaries.
