While the Caribbean opener Chris Gayle has achieved great success in every format, the left-handed batsman is the master in the T20 format. Not only he has scored most T20 runs (13296 runs) and also hit most T20 centuries (22), he is also holding the record of fastest T20 century which he managed to achieve in the IPL 2013.

It was the 31st match of the IPL 2013 where Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Pune Warriors India (PWI) faced each other at Bengaluru on 23rd April 2013. While the visitors sent the hosts to bat first, Gayle first completed his fifty in just 17 balls and took 13 more deliveries to reach the three-figure score. Unstoppable Gayle not only completed that century in just 30 balls, he further continued his dangerous batting and remained not out on 175 runs off just 66 balls (13 fours and 17 sixes) –  the highest individual score in T20 cricket history. That knock helped the RCB to score 263/5 (20 overs) and they ultimately won that match by 130 runs (133/9 in 20 overs).

The second-fastest T20 century was in 32 balls by the Delhi cricketer Rishabh Pant (against Himachal Pradesh at Delhi in 2018). So, the 30-ball T20 century is hugely tough for any batsman to achieve.
