While Virat Kohli is undoubtedly one of the greatest cricketers in the world, who has proved it for a long time after maintaining his great batting performances in every format, the right-handed batsman totally performed fearless batting in the IPL 2016. Before that edition, Kohli never scored a T20 century, but he smashed four centuries in the IPL 2016.

Leading the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Kohli ended the IPL 2016 after scoring the record 973 runs in 16 matches with an average of 81.08 and strike-rate of 152.03. Apart from four centuries, he also hit seven more half-centuries in that tournament. However, his team finished as the runners-up in that tournament. The second most runs in an IPL edition were 848 runs by David Warner (Sunrisers Hyderabad) in that same IPL season (2016).

Till the date, these two are the only incidents when a batsman scored 800+ runs in an IPL season. So, it is also unlikely possible to break in the IPL 2020.
