On Thursday (15th August), the Indian Premier League (IPL) side Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has announced that the former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum will be their head coach for the next season.
KKR has won two IPL trophies in 2012 and 2014, both under Gautam Gambhir‘s captaincy. Brendon McCullum started his IPL career for KKR as he served for this side from 2008 to 2010 and 2012 to 2013. McCullum also represented the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) side Trinbago Knight Riders. KKR’s parent company, Red Chillies Entertainment owns this CPL side. McCullum served for this team from 2016 to 2018, including two back-to-back CPL trophy victories in 2017 and 2018 seasons. After playing 33 matches for this side, he scored 836 runs with an average of 30.96.
