ToggleIn the 20th match of the IPL 2020, the defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) thrashed Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 57 runs at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium (Abu Dhabi).
After winning the toss, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma decided to bat first. While Mumbai Indians scored 193/4 (20 overs), Rajasthan Royals were bowled out for only 136 runs.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) innings
In the chasing, Rajasthan Royals’ struggle started from the second ball of the innings as Trent Boult dismissed the opener Yashasvi Jaiswal for a duck. Captain Steven Smith (6) and Sanju Samson (0) also lost their wickets very cheaply as Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult respectively took those wickets. At the end of the mandatory powerplay, Rajasthan Royals scored 31/3.
In the ninth over, Rahul Chahar took the wicket of Mahipal Lomror (11) after the substitute fielder Anukul Roy grabbed a superb catch at the extra cover.
Then opener Jos Buttler and Tom Curran handled the situation and set up the 56 runs partnership for the fifth wicket, where Buttler actually dominated with his big-hitting ability. With a sixer, Buttler completed his fifty in 34 balls.
When Buttler was batting dangerously, Kieron Pollard took a brilliant catch at long on that ended the dominant chapter of English wicket-keeper. Before that wicket, Buttler scored 70 runs off 44 balls (4 fours and 5 sixes). Since then, Mumbai Indians bowlers were totally in control.
Apart from Buttler, only Jofra Archer managed to score 20+ runs in that innings as he scored 24 runs off 11 balls (3 fours and only six) before Bumrah dismissed him.
During this match, Bumrah claimed his first four-wicket haul in T20 career as he finished with the bowling figure of 4-0-20-4.

Mumbai Indians (MI) innings
Openers Quinton de Kock and captain Rohit Sharma provided a firing start with 49 runs partnership inside the first five overs. In the fifth over, De Kock (23 runs off 15 balls) was dismissed by the 19-year-old T20 debutant Kartik Tyagi, who opened his T20 wicket column in his first over.
Skipper Rohit and Suryakumar Yadav built up the 39 runs partnership for the second wicket before Shreyas Gopal dismissed the Mumbai Indians captain for 35 runs off 23 balls (2 fours and 3 sixes) in the 10th over. On his next delivery, Gopal dismissed Ishan Kishan for a golden duck. Yadav faced the hat-trick ball where Gopal failed to continue his magic for the third successive time.
Jofra Archer took the wicket of Krunal Pandya (12 runs) in the 14th over. However, then, Yadav and Hardik Pandya controlled that innings till the end. In the last six overs, they put the 76 runs partnership for the unbroken fifth wicket.
Yadav completed his fifty in 33 balls. Ultimately, he remained not out on 79 runs off 47 balls with the help of 11 fours and 2 sixes. Hardik scored 30 not out off 19 balls (2 fours and only six).
