ToggleIn the 28th match of the IPL 2020, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) thrashed Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 82 runs at Sharjah Cricket Stadium (Sharjah).
Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli decided to bat first after winning the toss. RCB scored 194/2 (20 overs) in the first innings. In reply, KKR only managed to score 112/9 (20 overs).

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) innings
On his IPL debut, English cricketer Tom Banton failed to impress as the opener was bowled by Navdeep Saini for 8 runs. Soon, KKR batsmen were struggling once the spinners were brought into the attack.
Nitish Rana was bowled by Washington Sundar while another opener Shubman Gill lost his wicket through a run-out after scoring a fighting 34 runs off 25 balls (3 fours and 1 six). Chahal bowled skipper Dinesh Karthik (1) in the 11th over, while Sundar picked his second wicket after dismissing English cricketer Eoin Morgan (8).
Isuru Udana came to bowl for the first time in that game in the 14th over, where Andre Russell welcomed him with 4, 6 and 4, Udana dismissed that dangerous batsman on the fifth ball of that over as Russell lost his wicket after scoring 16 runs off 10 balls. Since then, it was only a matter of time for RCB’s great victory.

Apart from Gill and Russell, Rahul Tripathi (16) was the only other KKR batsman to reach the double-digit mark in that innings.

Openers Aaron Finch and Devdutt Padikkal provided a good start for RCB as they scored 47/0 at the end of the mandatory powerplay. They had the 67 runs partnership for the opening wicket before Andre Russell finally brought a breakthrough after he bowled Padikkal for 32 runs off 23 balls (4 fours and only six).
Finch scored 42 runs off 37 balls (4 fours and only six) before Pasidh Krishna bowled him in the 13th over where RCB were batting on 94/2.
For the unbroken third wicket, captain Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers built up the exact 100 runs partnership. While Kohli controlled the innings, De Villiers smashed the KKR bowlers in his style. De Villiers completed his half-century in just 23 balls. The former South African captain remained not out on 73 runs off only 33 balls (5 fours and 6 sixes).
On the other hand, Kohli remained not out for the second successive times as he scored 33 not out off 28 balls (only four).
