ToggleIn the 32nd match of the IPL 2020, the defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) claimed an easy victory after beating Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by eight wickets at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium (Abu Dhabi).
Newly-appointed KKR captain Eoin Morgan decided to bat first after winning the toss. While their top-order batsmen massively struggled, KKR managed to score 148/5 (20 overs) at the end of the first innings. In reply, Mumbai Indians chased down that target in 16.5 overs after losing only two wickets.

Mumbai Indians (MI) innings
Chasing down the target, the defending champions had a very good start as both the openers, skipper Rohit Sharma and wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock managed to score comfortably from the beginning of the second innings.
At first, the openers helped Mumbai Indians to score 51/0 at the end of the powerplay. They continued their strong opening partnership till the 10th over. During that partnership, De Kock completed his fifty in 25 balls.
After the 94 runs partnership for the opening wicket, captain Rohit Sharma (35 runs off 36 balls; 5 fours and only six) was dismissed by Shivam Mavi in the 11th over.
Though Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed after scoring just 10 runs, De Kock and Hardik Pandya assured Mumbai Indians’ fifth successive victory in style. De Kock remained not out on 78 runs off 44 balls (9 fours and 3 sixes) while Hardik scored 21 not out off 11 balls (3 fours and only six).

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) innings
Mumbai Indians bowlers provided a very good start as KKR managed to score 33/2 at the end of the mandatory powerplay. Once even KKR were struggling deeply on 61/5. Opener Rahul Tripathi (7), Nitish Rana (5) and former skipper Dinesh Karthik (4) were dismissed in the single-digit scores, while another opener Shubman Gill (21) and Andre Russell (12) lost their wickets in the double-digit scores.
Newly-appointed captain Eoin Morgan and Pat Cummins handled the KKR innings during the crisis moment and controlled it till the end of the innings. They set up the 87 runs partnership for the unbroken sixth-wicket that massively helped KKR to manage a respectable first innings total.
Cummins completed his fifty in the final over as he remained not out on 53 runs off 36 balls (5 fours and 2 sixes). On the other hand, Morgan scored 39 not out off 29 balls (2 fours and 2 sixes).
Apart from Nathan Coulter-Nile (1/51), all the other Mumbai Indians bowlers were very disciplined in that entire innings. Only the young leg-spinner Rahul Chahar managed to take more than one wicket in that innings as he had the bowling figures of 4-0-18-2.
