In the 34th match of the IPL 2020, Delhi Capitals (DC) claimed a five-wicket victory against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Sharjah Cricket Stadium (Sharjah).
CSK captain MS Dhoni chose to bat first after winning the toss and they managed to score 179/4 at the end of the first 20 overs. Thanks to opener Shikhar Dhawan’s unbeaten century knock, Delhi Capitals chased down that target in 19.5 overs after losing five wickets.

Delhi Capitals (DC) innings
Chasing down that target, Delhi Capitals had a poor start as they lost their opener Prithvi Shaw (0) and Ajinkya Rahane (8) very cheaply. But then, another opener Shikhar Dhawan and captain Shreyas Iyer controlled the situation with a strong partnership.
They built up the 68 runs partnership for the third wicket. Dhawan reached his fifty run mark in 29 balls. Iyer was dismissed in the 12th over by Dwayne Bravo after scoring a run-a-ball 23 runs. Then Dhawan and Marcus Stoinis set up the 43 runs partnership for the fourth wicket. While Stoinis lost his wicket after scoring 24 runs off 14 balls (only four and 2 sixes), Dhawan continued his impressive batting.
On the final ball of the 19th over, Dhawan became the third centurion in this season after reaching the three-digit score in 57 balls. However, Delhi Capitals still had to score 17 runs in the final over to win that game.
Ravindra Jadeja bowled the final over of that innings, where Axar Patel smashed three sixes to secure a great victory for Delhi franchise. While Dhawan scored 101 not out off 58 balls (14 fours and only six), Axar remained not out on 21 runs off 5 balls (3 sixes).

While Sam Curran and Faf du Plessis started the CSK innings, Curran was dismissed by Tushar Deshpande on the third ball of the match without opening his account. However, another opener Du Plessis and Shane Watson controlled that early situation as CSK managed 39/1 at the end of the powerplay.
They set up the 87 runs partnership for the second wicket. In the 12th over, Du Plessis completed his fifty in 28 balls. But on the very next ball, Watson was bowled by Anrich Nortje after scoring 36 runs off 28 balls (6 fours).
Kagiso Rabada became the fastest to complete 50 IPL wickets after dismissing Faf du Plessis in the 15th over, who scored 58 runs off 47 balls (6 fours and 2 sixes). Skipper MS Dhoni once again failed to shine with the bat as Nortje dismissed him for just 3 runs.
But then Ambati Rayudu and Ravindra Jadeja handled the situation and set up a challenging target for Delhi Capitals. They put the 50 runs partnership in just 21 balls for the unbroken fifth wicket. While Rayudu scored 45 not out off 25 balls (only fours and 4 sixes), Jadeja remained unbeaten on 33 runs off just 13 balls (4 sixes).
Among the Delhi Capitals bowlers, only Anrich Nortje bagged more than one wicket as he had the bowling figures of 4-0-44-2.
