IPL 2020, Match 42: Kolkata Knight Riders vs Delhi Capitals (KKR vs DC) – Highlights
Delhi Capitals (DC) innings
On the first balls of the second innings, Pat Cummins trapped the opener Ajinkya Rahane for lbw for a golden duck. In the third over, Cummins bowled the in-form Delhi Capitals opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan for just 6 runs and ended his great run of four consecutive 50+ scores.
However, just like KKR, Delhi Capitals also scored 36/2 at the end of the powerplay as captain Shreyas Iyer and wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant handled that pressure situation. They built up the 63 runs partnership for the third wicket, but once the leg-spinner Varun Chakravarthy was introduced into the bowling attack in the 12th over, the cricket fans only experienced the domination of KKR, majorly thanks to Varun.
While Pant lost his wicket on 27 runs off 33 balls (2 fours and only six), Shimron Hetmyer (10 off 5 balls; only six) and Iyer (47 runs off 38 balls; 5 fours) lost their wickets in two consecutive deliveries. Varun took all those wickets inside his first two overs. In his third over, the leggie took another two wickets as he recorded first five-wicket haul in the IPL 2020.
Ravichandran Ashwin was the fourth and only other batsman to reach the double-digit mark in that innings as he scored 14 not out off 13 balls (2 fours).
Varun Chakravarthy finished the match with the bowling figures of 4-0-20-5. Also, the most expensive player in the 2020 IPL auction Pat Cummins, who started that innings brightly with the ball, ended with the bowling figures of 4-0-17-3.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) innings
KKR failed to make a strong start as they lost the first two wickets inside the powerplay and they scored 36/2 at the end of the powerplay. While Anrich Nortje dismissed opener Shubman Gill (9) in the second over, he then bowled Rahul Tripathi (13) in the sixth over.
After the powerplay, Kagiso Rabada took the wicket of Dinesh Karthik in the eighth over who only managed to score 3 runs. At that time, KKR were struggling on 42/3.
From that situation, another opener Nitish Rana and Sunil Narine provided the solid partnership that massively helped KKR to control that situation. They built up the quickie 115 runs partnership for the fourth wicket as both these batsmen scored the 50s in that innings. Rana reached the 50 runs mark in 35 balls while Narine scored a 24-ball fifty.
In the 17th over, Rabada broke that partnership after dismissing Narine for 64 runs off 32 balls (6 fours and 4 sixes). But Rana continued his batting and controlled KKR innings along with the new skipper Eoin Morgan as they set up the 37 runs partnership for the fifth wicket.
