ToggleIn the 46th match of the IPL 2020, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) claimed a comfortable eight-wicket victory against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Sharjah Cricket Stadium (Sharjah).
After winning the toss, Kings XI Punjab captain KL Rahul chose to field first. KKR managed to score 149/9 (20 overs) at the end of the first innings. In reply, KXIP reached the target in 18.5 overs after losing only two wickets.

Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) innings
KXIP openers KL Rahul and Mandeep Singh provided a good start. They had the 47 runs partnership for the opening wicket before Varun Chakravarthy trapped KXIP skipper Rahul for lbw. The Orange cap holder Rahul scored 28 runs off 25 balls (4 fours).

Then Mandeep and Chris Gayle took full control in that chasing. While Mandeep was in total control, Gayle was fiery with the bat. They brilliantly put the 50+ partnership for the second wicket while Mandeep completed his fifty in 16th over as he reached the half-century mark in 49 balls.
In the 17th over, Gayle also completed his half-century in 25 balls. Gayle and Mandeep put the exact 100 runs partnership for the second wicket. While KXIP were just three runs away from the victory, Gayle was caught out after scoring 51 off 29 balls (2 fours and 5 sixes).
However, Mandeep comfortably led the team to the victory as he scored 66 not out off 56 balls (8 fours and 2 sixes).
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) innings
KKR got another poor start as they lost three wickets in the first two overs. While Nitish Rana and Dinesh Karthik scored the ducks, Rahul Tripathi scored just 7 runs. Then another opener Shubman Gill and captain Eoin Morgan handled that early situation.
Gill and Morgan provided the crucial 81 runs partnership for the fourth wicket. But once Morgan lost his wicket in the 10th over after scoring 40 runs off 25 balls (5 fours and 2 sixes), KKR again struggled in their innings. Opening batsman Gill fought really well and reached his 50 in 36 balls.
From 91/3, KKR suddenly fell down to 114/7. Then Gill and Lockie Ferguson put the 22 runs partnership for the eighth wicket. After scoring 57 runs off 45 balls (3 fours and 4 sixes), Gill was finally dismissed by Mohammed Shami in the 19th over.
Lockie Ferguson was the only other man in that innings to manage the double-digit score as he was not out on 24 runs off 13 balls (3 fours and only six).
Among the KXIP bowlers, Mohammed Shami had the bowling figures of 4-0-35-3. Also, Chris Jordan (2/25) and Ravi Bishnoi (2/20) got two wickets each in that innings.
