Both teams are playing their 12th match of this season. In the latest IPL 2020 points table, Kolkata Knight Riders are in the 4th position with 12 points (6 wins and 5 loses) and Kings XI Punjab are in the 5th position with 10 points (5 wins and 6 loses).
It is their second meeting this season. Earlier in this IPL 2020, they met for the first time during the 24th match of the IPL 2020 (at Abu Dhabi on 10th October 2020). KKR snatched a 2-run victory in that game and it was their fourth successive victory against KXIP.
IPL 2020, Match 46: Kolkata Knight Riders vs Kings XI Punjab (KKR vs KXIP) – Toss Report
Kings XI Punjab captain KL Rahul won the toss and decided to field first. KXIP have maintained their latest winning combination for this match.
Rahul said after winning the toss, “We will bowl first. LIke to have a target on the board, the dew might have an effect as well in the second innings. Winning gives a lot of confidence to the group, it makes them keep performing better and better. The back-room staff have been phenomenal right from even the tournament started. No changes to our team”
On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders captain Eoin Morgan also confirmed that they have brought the unchanged playing XI for this match.
Morgan said, “We would have bowled as well, pretty much for the same reasons. We did well against DC, played the way we wanted. Our fate is still in our hands, that’s good. We have depended a lot on match-ups, it works at times, it doesn’t at times. Andre Russell is unfortunately still not fit, so same team”
