Both teams are playing their 13th match of this season. In the IPL 2020 points table, Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians are on the top position with 16 points (8 wins and 4 loses) and Shreyas Iyer-led Delhi Capitals are in the 3rd position with 14 points (7 wins and 5 loses). However, in this match, Kieron Pollard is continuing his leadership role for Mumbai Indians in the absence of their regular skipper Rohit Sharma.

Mumbai Indians captain Kieron Pollard won the toss and decided to field first. They made two changes in the playing XI as Jayant Yadav and Nathan Coulter-Nile have replaced Hardik Pandya and James Pattinson.
Pollard said, “We will field first. Not sure what this pitch will do, it’s better to chase down the target. Two changes for us – Hardik is resting today and Pattinson misses out. They have been replaced by Jayant Yadav and Nathan Coulter-Nile. We have been playing well with everyone chipping in, hopefully, it will continue. We need to go hard till the end, not want to get complacent.”
On the other hand, Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer confirmed that they made three changes in the playing XI. Praveen Dubey, Prithvi Shaw and Harshal Patel have been added in the playing XI as the replacement of Ajinkya Rahane, Tushar Deshpande and Axar Patel.
Iyer said, “We wanted to bat first as well. Previous results tell it’s better to bat first. Batting hasn’t been up to the mark, hopefully, it will do well today. Three changes for us – Praveen Dubey makes his IPL debut. Prithvi Shaw and Harshal Patel are back. We are motivated to do well as a team, want to finish on a good note.”
