IPL 2020: MS Dhoni Undergoes COVID-19 Test For Approaching Season

CSK captain, MS Dhoni had his COVID-19 test on Wednesday before joining the team in their base, his report is expected by Thursday afternoon. If his report comes negative, he’ll be leaving for Chennai where CSK have organised a five-day training camp starting 15th of August.

All teams have started getting their players tested in their hometowns before joining the base camp. The IPL 2020 will begin from September 19 till November 10, a total 53-day campaign will see all the 8 teams play in UAE. The venue this time is UAE and matches will be played in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. CSK will reportedly leave for the UAE on 22nd of August.

Test Reports To Come By Thursday Afternoon

MS Dhoni was tested at his Simaliya farmhouse in Ranchi by micro praxis lab at Guru Nanak Hospital. CSK player Monu Kumar Singh also gave his samples to the same labs. According to sources in Guru Nanak Hospital, the reports will come by Thursday afternoon. If they test negative, both players will be able to travel and join the group at CSK for the training camp.

Kasi Vishwanathan, CEO Of CSK Expects MS Dhoni To Play In The IPL Till 2022

The CEO of CSK Kasi Vishwanathan believes MS Dhoni can play for the Chennai based side even till 2022. MS Dhoni has maintained his fitness levels by training hard consistently. His agility is still unmatched.

“We don’t worry about him at all. Yes, we can expect MS Dhoni to be part of both (IPL 2020 and 2021) and probably for even the next year, 2022,” Viswanathan told India Today.

“I am getting updates through the media only, saying he has been training in Jharkhand in indoor nets. But we don’t have to worry about the skipper, boss. We don’t worry about him at all. He knows his responsibilities and he will take care of himself and the team.”

The BCCI had received the central government’s formal approval to conduct this year’s IPL in the UAE, league chairman Brijesh Patel had revealed on Monday.

CSK will again look to win the IPL, they’ve done it thrice in the past winning the trophy in 2010, 2011 and 2018.
