Rajasthan Royals’ all-rounder Rahul Tewatia has stated that he is ready to bat in a super over if such a situation arises and he is needed. Tewatia was instrumental in RR’s win against KXIP after he came to bat at the two down spot and hit 53 runs off 31 balls, including seven sixes to his credit.
The southpaw was struggling at one stage as he had scored just 13 runs off first 19 balls. A horrific initial display by Rahul Tewatia which he made up for in the latter stages against KXIP, when he struck five sixes in an over by Sheldon Cottrell. The decision of the coaching staff to send him up the order was criticized but turned out to be a great move.
Ready To Bat In Super Over If Situation Demands: Rahul Tewatia
Rajasthan Royals had got Tewatia from Delhi Capitals in exchange of former skipper Ajinkya Rahane. Rahul Tewatia has stated that if a situation of super over arises and if he is needed, he is ready to grab the opportunity and would do the best for the team.
“The management, captain and coach have to decide whom they want in the super over considering the situation,” Tewatia told ANI
“It also depends on the game who has played well. If I get any such opportunity I am ready for my team. I will try to give my best,” he added.
RR to next face KKR
Rajasthan Royals are unbeaten yet and have been stupendous with their batting, winning both the matches scoring and chasing 200 plus successfully runs on the board. The Steve Smith-led team will face KKR at the Dubai International stadium. It will be RR’s first match away from the Sharjah.
With the arrival of Jos Buttler back in the team, RR’s upper batting order with Buttler, Samson and Smith looks top class but their middle-order still have to prove themselves.
