ToggleDelhi Capitals (DC) CEO Dhiraj Malhotra is all praises of head coach — Ricky Ponting and he opined that the Australian has taken Capitals to the next level since his appointment. DC have never reached the finals of the IPL and had only qualified for the playoff for the first time last year. Previously, former Australia captain Ricky Ponting served as the coach of four-time IPL winners, Mumbai Indians.
Ricky Ponting is one of the greatest Australian batsman and captain. He led his side to glory on multiple occasions winning two World Cups in 2003 and 2007 and two Champions Trophy victories in 2006 and 2009. He had a stubborn winning mentality that led to many infamous incidents but also helped him become a proven match-winner for his team, and now as a coach he sets a great example for his team and is a motivator.

DC CEO Dhiraj Malhotra has hailed Ricky Ponting as the most motivating person. He also remarked him as an inspirational player and said he has taken DC to the next level. He inspires the players with his motivational speeches and overlooks every training, told Dhiraj Malhotra.
“He has been an inspirational player. He is the most motivating person you can be with. See his enthusiasm at this age as a coach, player or commentator. We start the training every day with a small speech from him.
“From that speech, I could see people are getting goosebumps and getting inspired. He is part of every training that happens. To be trained by someone of his caliber it just has taken the team to a different level,” Malhotra told ANI.

Malhotra said, the players are giving their hundred percent and when they are on the field they forget the happenings of the world. He is sure, the audience will see cricket at its highest level in the IPL again.
“Players are giving it their all. Once they are on the field they forget about what is happening in the world. It is all about being in the moment and being on the field. I have seen everyone do that. You will get to see cricket at its highest level again.
“If you forget the pandemic and challenges, it is been a very fruitful experience. Everyone back home feels that things are getting back to normal. Sports is happening and people are dying to watch some good quality cricket and this is what IPL is all about. Actually, it is a very positive and really brilliant feeling to be here right now,” he added.
Delhi Capitals eye their first IPL title:
DC are one of the three sides to have never won the IPL. Moreover, they have never even made it to the finals. They have quite some squad depth this season to go for the extra mile with new additions like Ajinkya Rahane, Ravichandran Ashwin, Marcus Stoinis, who have bolstered their lineup .

The IPL 2020 will be played between September 19 and November 10. The venue this time is UAE and matches will be played in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah respectively.
