Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma is on the cusp of entering an eminent record in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Rohit Sharma is just shy of two runs to join the 5,000-run club in the IPL. Until now, only RCB skipper Virat Kohli and CSK’s Suresh Raina have reached the feat before.

The Mumbai Indians have started off their title defence this year on a low, after losing 2 matches out the 3 they have played yet.

Rohit Sharma could only manage eight runs off as many balls in their match against RCB, which went on to a super over and MI lost. In three matches Rohit has scored 100 runs with one big knock of 80 runs against KKR.

Rohit Sharma advancing to join an elusive club:

The four-time IPL winner is very close to adding another feather to his hat in the IPL by entering the 5000 runs club. Only two other players have previously achieved the big feat. RCB’s Virat Kohli has scored 5430 runs in 180 matches at an average of 37.12 and CSK’s Suresh Raina who has 5368 runs in 193 games at an average of 33.34.

Rohit will look to reach the milestone in today’s match against KXIP. He is also only 10 runs away from having scored 600 runs against KXIP, he already has crossed the 600 run mark against four different teams in the IPL.
