Considering the experience and significance of Ishant Sharma, Delhi Capitals’ (DC) bowling coach Ryan Harris had taken help from the lanky pacer – to communicate in a better possible way, with rest of the youngsters within the Delhi camp. He further admitted that he has Ishant around as a ‘leader’ when he speaks with the bowlers.
Harris remarked that he wants to clear the ideas to his wards and for that, he has taken help of star bowler Ishant to pass on messages — to those who are still struggling to understand it. He further hailed Ishant for translating things to his bowling partners aptly.
“Most of the guys here are pretty good (with English), but there’s still one or two who sometimes might not quite get it. So I’ve spoken to Ishant, for instance, to make sure that he can (translate) and he’s doing it beautifully.
“So I’m making sure that if I talk to one of the younger guys, he (Ishant) is around so that the player knows what I’m saying to make sure that we are on the same page,” Ryan Harris told Times of India.
Harris further added that Ishant knew what he has to do being as a bowling spearhead — and what he had learnt while representing India at the highest level across formats.
“I’ve spoken to Ishant about being a leader. I don’t have to do that because he knows that he naturally does that (lead the bowling unit) with the amount of cricket he has played,” Ryan Harris said.
In terms of proceeding towards the things, Ishant shares a great bond with Harris. The Aussie expects a lot from the bowler who had snared 71 wickets in 89 IPL fixtures so far since 2008.
Ryan Harris on the healthy relationship with Ishant Sharma:
A person in charge within the bowling department, Ishant had thoroughly impressed Harris, who replaced former Australian all-rounder James Hopes as a coach. The ex-cricketer had cited personal reasons to pull out of the IPL 2020.
Harris has further termed his relationship with Ishant as ‘positive’. He further hopes that it augurs well in the upcoming edition.
“So having someone like him, an experienced guy who wants to talk cricket with me all the time and wants to learn from me, that for me is a really good, positive relationship,” Ryan Harris added.
RyanHarris, who himself featured in the IPL for now-defunct Deccan Chargers and Kings XI Punjab, knows the niceties of the lucrative league. He had been part of the KXIP as the bowling coach in IPL 2019.
The bowling all-rounder Harris had featured in 37 IPL matches in which he had bagged 45 wickets with his best bowling figures of four for 34.
In 12th edition of the IPL, Capitals under the dynamic leadership of Shreyas Iyer finished third on the list with nine wins in 14 matches.
It becomes all together important to note that besides Ishant, Capitals’ fast bowling attack would also rely on Mohit Sharma and Avesh Khan in particular.

Besides, Harshal Patel and Tushar Despande will be eager to make an impact – to make things count for their team. And, Harris is expecting them to yield desired results given to the amount of practice they have been involved.
Capitals would heavily really on spin ploy which is formed by Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel and Amit Mishra. Having a trio within the squads, it is seen as a major boost for the team on considering the spin-friendly conditions in the UAE.
