IPL 2020: Stephen Flemings Opines CSK Are By No Means Where They Want To Be

Chennai Super Kings’ head coach Stephen Fleming has stated that if his batsmen show a bit more intensity in the middle overs, the door can open for them to victories.

On Saturday, while chasing 170 runs target, CSK top order gave a slow start while their middle-order failed to set up a partnership and lost their wickets consecutively. As a result, the MS Dhoni-led side suffered their fifth loss in seven matches by 37 runs.

Addressing the issue of power-hitting in the team, Stephen Flemings opined that they are looking for a solution while he demanded the batters to be more aggressive.

“If we don’t get a good start at the top with our two overseas players, we’re falling into a hole. So we’re looking for positive solutions. What I’d like is a little bit more intensity through the middle overs,” Fleming said in the post-match press conference.

We are certainly scrapping, trying to find a way: Stephen Fleming.

Flemings said that they have big-hitters in the team, but they could not play freely because of the pressure on them after top-order batsmen give a slow start to the team.

“We’ve got plenty of batting, and while we’re recovering pretty well, we are just ending up with too much to do at the back. So, trying to release the shackles and just allow the hitters towards the end a little bit more freedom,” he added.

Stephen Fleming admitted that they are looking for a change in the selection of players to reap results in their favour.

“We are looking for ways to compete and change the style of play, given we have been so consistent with our selections. We are certainly scrapping, trying to find a way, it is a bit foreign and the results are showing,” Fleming admitted.

CSK is going to play their next match against SunRisers Hyderabad on Tuesday.
