Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar was full of praise for Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni for captaining a single franchise for 200 matches. The Indian legend lauded him as the best captain in the world and reckons there would be never a captain like him in the future.
Sunil Gavaskar, who is currently part of the Star Sports broadcast team for IPL 2023, spoke highly regarding the CSK. The Chennai-based franchise is capable of making comeback from difficult situations in the match and it is all due to the presence of MS Dhoni in the team.
“Chennai Super Kings know how to get out of tough situations. This has been possible only under MS Dhoni’s captaincy,” Sunil Gavaskar said.

MS Dhoni has been captaining the Chennai franchise since the inaugural edition (2008) and led the team to become the second most successful franchise winning 4 IPL titles next to Mumbai Indians, who have bagged 5 IPL titles.
“Captaining 200 matches is very difficult. Captaining so many matches is a burden and it could have affected his performance as well. But Mahi is different. He is a different captain. There hasn’t been a captain like him and there will never be one like him in the future,” speaking about MS Dhoni’s captaincy, Gavaskar said.
On the 200th match as skipper, Dhoni played brilliantly well to pull back his team from the precarious situation when they were reeling at 113/6. He remained unbeaten on 32 off just 17 balls. With 21 runs to chase in the final over, MS Dhoni looked at his absolute best to smash back-to-back sixes, to give them a chance, before Sandeep Sharma nailed the yorkers in the final three balls.
MS Dhoni has looked in excellent touch so far in the 16th edition of the IPL. He played cameos against Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants and would be keen to score heavily in the impending fixtures.
These Are Good Signs For RCB – Sunil Gavaskar On Virat Kohli’s Form
Besides, Sunil Gavaskar hailed Virat Kohli for his fantastic start to the tournament, as he played exceptionally well for the Faf du Plessis-led side, scoring 214 runs from the four games.

“Virat Kohli is giving RCB flying starts at the start of the innings. He deserves a lot of credit for the starts RCB is getting and the runs the team is managing to post on the board because of his starts. These are good signs for RCB,” Sunil Gavaskar added.
Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on four-time champions Chennai Super Kings in a high-octane clash on April 17 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore.
