Former Indian opener Robin Uthappa criticised Mumbai Indians’ bowling attack, despite the five-time champions winning the closely fought game against Rajasthan Royals at the full-packed Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. The Rohit Sharma-led side conceded more than 200 runs for the third time in a row in this edition of the IPL.
In the chase of 213 runs, Mumbai Indians lost their skipper Rohit Sharma cheaply to Sandeep Sharma followed by losing their other opener Ishan Kishan. With two wickets down, Suryakumar Yadav was back to his usual best in the last couple of games for the five-time champions, and death-over heroics by Tim David helped them to chase the total with three balls to spare.
Speaking on Jiocinema, Robin Uthappa feels everything is not ok for the Mumbai Indians team, as their bowlers were poor throughout the tournament and reckons that it is high time for their bowlers to step up in the crunch moments of the game and said that death bowling is cause concerns as they going for more runs in the final five overs.

“This game will make it feel like all’s well with the Mumbai Indians, but it isn’t. They really need to figure out their bowling and how they finish overs because they’re doing fairly decent until the 15th over, especially in the last three games, they were on course to defend 170, and 180, and then in the last five over something happens and they kind of lose the plot,” he stated.
Death bowling has been a cause of concern for the Rohit Sharma-led side as they conceded more runs against Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans in the final five overs and the pattern continued against the Rajasthan Royals as they were unable to stop Yashasvi Jaiswal throughout the innings.
Then They Give 60,70,80,90 Runs In The Last Five Overs – Robin Uthappa
Robin Uthappa slammed that Mumbai Indians bowlers go for big runs in the last five overs, which can tilt the match in the favour of the opponents, as the margin of defeats in a T20 game is usually between 10 to 20 runs. On Sunday, Mumbai Indians could stop the run flow even though they had Jofra Archer in the playing 11.

“Then they give 60, 70, 80, 90 runs in the last five overs, which is diabolical for them,” Uthappa added.
Mumbai Indians are currently placed at Number seven in the points table with four wins from eight games and will look to build on their confidence from their win against the Rajasthan Royals they will take on Punjab Kings in their reverse encounter in Mohali on May 3.
