Former Australia skipper and Delhi Capitals (DC) head coach, Ricky Ponting gave advice to the India star in front of team Director of Cricket, Sourav Ganguly during a dressing room speech, as DC lost the 5th straight game in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.
Ricky Ponting in his interaction with the Delhi Capitals side tried to lift the mood-
“Good, really good bowling performance. They challenged us early; they got off to a flier. Our attitude and commitment came back, we dragged it back. Kuldeep, where are you mate? Disappointed last game, weren’t you? You actually said sorry to me at the end of the game,”
“So mate, don’t you ever say sorry to me or anyone for what happens on the cricket field. What I want you to do is bounce back strong and today with 2/23 off four, it was an outstanding spell of bowling. Well done,” Ponting said with DC’s Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly in attendance,” said the Ex-Aussie skipper.
While DC’s side is playing without their regular skipper, Rishabh Pant as he has still not recovered from injuries after a car accident in December 2022. But the Aussie star opener, David Warner was made stand-in skipper for this edition and ace Indian all-rounder Axar Patel his deputy, and apart from these two, no other player has performed consistently in the 16th edition of the cash-rich league for the Delhi-based side.
While Indian Leggie has picked four wickets from five games this season, and against Mumbai Indians at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, he was gone for a lot of runs. But in their last fixture against RCB, went for 23 runs in four overs, while Kuldeep also picked up the wickets of the dangerous Glenn Maxwell for 24 and Dinesh Karthik on successive deliveries and almost took the hattrick.
Back each other, play hard and believe in the process ?

Ponting also appreciated the efforts of Lalit Yadav, who kept things tight with the ball and finished with 1/29, and reserved top praises for all-rounders Axar Patel and Mitchell Marsh for their effort at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
“Lalit, I thought you did a good job with the ball as well buddy. Two sixes in that one over otherwise the reason we bought you in today was to bowl those hard overs in the Powerplay, just outside it, and you did a great job as well. Axar you were also great. 1/25 off three and our golden boy Mitchell Marsh, who picks up 2/18 of his couple overs as well. So well done,” he further added.
Whereas, DC’s side was hammered in all five matches and they found nowhere close to winning in the match as they outplayed in the tournament so far. Now for their sixth clash of IPL 2023, the Delhi-based side will take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 20 at Delhi.
