Indian veteran pacer Ishant Sharma will make a return to Delhi Capitals for the Indian Premier League 2023 after being unsold in IPL 2022. Ishant Sharma who was part of the ongoing  Delhi Capitals pre-season camp in Delhi spoke about their new skipper David Warner, star-studded support staff, and young Indian fast bowling prospects in Delhi.

Speaking to Delhi Capitals, Ishant Sharma said David Warner’s experience will come in handy for the franchise, as he already captained Sunrisers Hyderabad to the IPL title in Sunrisers Hyderabad.

“David Warner is a very experienced player and he has captained in IPL before. Each of us will look to carry out our roles and also back our Captain,” Ishant Sharma said.

Ishant Sharma also added Ricky Ponting has been good for the team helping the players in every aspect of the game and also added Sourav Ganguly’s return to the franchise will help the players in the team.

“Ricky Ponting has been very good for the side. He helps us with every aspect of our lives. He makes everyone feel a part of the Delhi Capitals family. Sourav Ganguly’s experience as a cricketer will also help us a lot,” Ishant Sharma added.

The 34-year-old also asserted Delhi Capitals has a lot of young promising pacers in the squad with the likes of Chetan Sakariya, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, and Khaleel Ahmed who played well for the franchise in the last season. Ishant Sharma named the hard-hitting all-rounder Aman Khan as a player for the future. Delhi Capitals acquired the service of Aman Khan from Kolkata Knight Riders in exchange for Shardul Thakur.

 “We have a lot of young talent in our squad. Chetan Sakariya, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, and Khaleel Ahmed are really good players. We have Aman Khan as well, who is a very good prospect for the future,” Ishant told Delhi Capitals.

The Capitals will get their campaign underway on April 1 against Lucknow Super Giants after the first match of the 2023 season. They will look to do well under the leadership of David Warner, who will captain them in the absence of injured Rishabh Pant.

Delhi Capitals Began Their Preparation For IPL 2023

Delhi Capitals had begun their preparation for the upcoming mega cricketing tournament in Delhi. The camp had the likes of Ishant Sharma, Manish Pandey, Pravin Dubey, Chetan Sakariya, and Kamlesh Nagarkoti. The International players will join the squad after their commitments with the International teams.

Delhi Capitals (DC) announced recently that Australian opener, David Warner will be the skipper in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 in the absence of their regular skipper Rishabh Pant and Indian all-rounder Axar Patel will serve as his deputy. Under the leadership of Warner, Delhi Capitals will look for their first title in the tournament.
