Former Pakistan Cricketer Rashid Latif heaped praise on MS Dhoni for his phenomenal achievement in the Indian Premier League and lauded him greatest Indian captain in cricket history. The former Indian skipper was the only Indian captain to win three ICC trophies for India.
Latif reckoned Dhoni as the superstar of Indian cricket, as the CSK skipper struck back-to-back sixes off the Mark Wood bowling against Lucknow Super Giants, showcasing his skills once again at the highest level.
“He has scored 5000 runs in IPL alone. Dhoni has always had a golden template. His history has been written with gold – for India, for world cricket. You and I can say whatever we like but it won’t make a difference. He is easily the greatest ever Indian captain, and also a wicketkeeper batter. There is no doubt there,” Rashid Latif said.
MS Dhoni became the seventh player to complete 5,000 runs in IPL history and he joined the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, David Warner, AB de Villiers, and Shikhar Dhawan. Pertinently, most of the batters in the list bat at the top of the order.
MS Dhoni is known for his finishing skills averaging almost 40 runs in IPL with a strike rate of over 135, more importantly, leading his side to four IPL titles.
MS Dhoni Is Different Vibe And Intensity Altogether – Rashid Latif
Rashid Latif lauded Ms Dhoni for his finishing against Lucknow Super Giants, where he struck two sixes in the final over against Lucknow and reckoned that MS Dhoni gives a different vibe in the field comparing him with Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, and Virat Kohli.
“Look at the way he batted. He faced just 2-3 balls and showed what he has always been capable of. He is the most famous player. We have seen Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, and even Virat Kohli. But Dhoni, and the way he conducts himself on the field and the following that he has, there is a different vibe and intensity to it altogether. Outstanding,” added Latif.
Chennai Super Kings posted the mammoth total of 217 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs, with the help of Ruturaj Gaikwad’s brilliant 57 runs in 31 balls and later cameo with Dhoni and Ambati Rayudu’s in the final stage of the innings. KL Rahul-led side looked comfortable at one stage chasing down the total before tactical strategy by the former Indian skipper helped their side defend the total in a thriller of a match.
Chennai Super Kings will take on their arch-rivals Mumbai Indians on April 8 in Mumbai, as the five-time champions will look to register their first win against CSK.
