Former South African batter AB de Villiers heaped praise on young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal for his impressive performance in this edition of the Indian Premier League. The 21-year-old has been the standout performer for the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2023 season.

The Rajasthan Royals opener has scored 625 runs in 14 matches at an average of 48.08 and has hit five half-centuries and one century in the season. The Indian southpaw also achieved his first IPL hundred-124 against MI, which is also the highest score by an uncapped Indian batter in the cash-rich league.

Former Royal Challengers Bangalore legend AB de Villiers named Yashasvi Jaiswal as the most impressive player in the IPL 2023, as he showed excellent calm and composure to bat long innings for his side and hailed him for dominating the bowlers in the 2023 season and reckons that the Indian youngster has shown the ability to perform at the biggest stage.

“Yashasvi Jaiswal for me and by a long margin for sure. He is a young player and has got all the shots in the book. He has a calm and composed temperament at the wicket and I love what he does, dominating the bowlers and always looking like he is in control. Shubman is a little bit older, I think Jaiswal’s got a long way to go, and he has all the credentials to become a great,” AB de Villiers said on Jio Cinema.

The 21-year-old has been an exceptional performer and received several compliments, with Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Ravi Shastri, and Harbhajan Singh as everyone predicts to keep him to be the next thing in Indian Cricket.

It is widely said that Jaiswal will be drafted into the Indian team T20 team soon after the completion of the IPL 2023, as he has shown the ability to score quick runs at the top of the order, which the Indian team has suffered in recent times with likes Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul shown the doors due to their lack form and start in T20 Cricket.

Yashasvi Jaiswal has replaced Ruturaj Gaikwad as one of three standby players for India, with the left-hander already left for England alongside Indian skipper Rohit Sharma on Sunday. He will join fellow white-ball star Suryakumar Yadav and uncapped pacer Mukesh Kumar as the standby options for India.
