Despite being the top-notch T20 batsman, Kolkata Knight Riders released Chris Lynn ahead of the IPL 2020 auction. Many were surprised with KKR’s decision even the captain Dinesh Karthik has revealed that he had to let go Lynn with heavy hurt. But what led the franchise to release the explosive opener?

Chri Lynn is the best-suited player for the shortest formats. In the franchise leagues like Big Bash League and other prominent tournaments, he has played gun-blazing knocks, hitting gigantic sixes irrespective of the opposition. He could charge up the innings according to the need of the match. Any team would love to have an attacking batsman like Chris Lynn. However, KKR let go of the Aussie cricketer.

Speaking in a video uploaded on the KKR official website, Dinesh Karthik explained the reasons behind KKR for not retaining the batsman. He said that Chris Lynn was an ‘absolute gun’ and contributed a lot to the franchise but he didn’t fit in the dynamics of the auction.

“We had to let go of Lynn with a heavy heart, whatever time he spent with the franchise, he was an absolute gun,” he said.

“Such are the dynamics of the auction that you have to let go of some players, Lynn is somebody I am really fond off, he brings a lot to the table,” Karthik further added.

Chris Lynn will join Mumbai Indians in IPL 2020:

In IPL 2020 auction, Mumbai Indians bought Chris Lynn for his base price INR 2 Crore without any bidding war which was another surprise. However, currently, Lynn is playing in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2020 and is expected to join the MI ahead of the IPL commencement from 19th September.

Meanwhile, KKR, including other franchises, has already landed in the UAE and will start their training camp. Earlier, the league was scheduled to start from 29th March but because of the coronavirus, the league was postponed.
