Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batting coach VVS Laxman has opined that the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) edition would be challenging but they are looking forward to playing the game that they love.
SRH on their official Twitter account posted the video clip of their first virtual team meeting on Friday. In that session, VVS Laxman from his hotel room in Dubai interacted with the players. The meeting was also attended by overseas players Kane Williamson and David Warner, who is currently in the UK owing to national duty.
VVS Laxman motivated the players to take up the upcoming challenge, which will be different from past seasons.
“I think it is going to be a different kind of challenge [playing away from Hyderabad] but ultimately I am sure we all will be looking forward to playing the game that we love so much,” VVS Laxman said.
After the team had completed the mandatory quarantine period, SRH batting coach indicated that the team would start the training camp from 29th August (Saturday)
“Hopefully from the 29th [August] onwards we will be back on the cricket ground, practicing and once the tournament starts we will kick off with the matches,” he told the squad.
David Warner and Kane Williamson will not miss any action:
Laxman also wished Kane Williamson and David Warner would be at their best before joining the team in the UAE. After completing the bilateral series, Warner is expected to join the squad on 20 or 21st September.
“Also to Kane [Williamson] and Davey [David Warner], all those who are on international assignments, all the very best and I am sure that you will be at your best when you join the franchise, starting the first game probably on the 20 or 21st [September].”
The IPL 2020 is scheduled to start from 19th September but the fixtures are still to be announced. It will be a 53-day tournament during which 60 games will be played in three venues-Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah.
