Irfan Pathan Reveals His Favourite Moment Of Indian Cricket In 2019
The veteran Indian left-arm pacer Irfan Pathan has revealed his best moment in Indian cricket in 2019. The 35-year-old has praised the growth of the Indian pace bowling attack as they are performing superiorly in every country of the cricket world.
In recent years, the Indian pacers have dominated in international cricket. But this year is more special as the Indian pacers have emerged themselves as the consistent match winners. Even the spinners played lesser important roles for the national side this year.
The right-arm pacer Mohammed Shami has finished as the most ODI wicket-taker (42 wickets) and the top five most international wicket-takers (77 wickets) in 2019. Pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar also bagged 33 wickets in 19 ODIs and finished as the fifth most ODI wicket-taker in this year. Another right-arm pacer Jasprit Bumrah took the second most international wickets (42 wickets) for India in 2019. Also, the pacers Ishant Sharma (25 wickets) and Umesh Yadav (23 wickets) utilised their experiences superbly in Test cricket.
Irfan Pathan has claimed that the present Indian fast bowling line-up is one of the best fast bowling line-ups in his experience.
Pathan claimed, “This year we saw India’s fast bowlers bowl beautifully for the country and it’s been one of the best fast bowling line-ups that we have seen. We saw the intent with which they bowled, they came in, bowled hard-swinging deliveries, new or old ball it didn’t matter.
“I have really seen the growth of Indian cricket especially in terms of fast bowling which has been the highlight for me this year.”
My dream always was to beat Australia in Australia – Irfan Pathan
Choosing his most favourite moment of the year, Irfan Pathan has mentioned India’s first-ever Test series victory in Australia. They played the four-match Test series between 6th December 2018 and 7th January 2019 that India won by the 2-1 margin. The visitors India started that series with the 31 runs victory at Adelaide. Though the hosts came back to the series with the 146 runs victory in the next Test at Perth, India won the third Test at Melbourne by 137 runs. While they played the fourth and final Test of the series at Sydney in early January this year, it had a draw result but anyway India created history by winning that series.
Irfan Pathan, who made his international debut during the 2003/04 Test series in Australia, had a dream to win a Test series in Australia. While his Indian team just felt short of creating that history in 2003/04 season, the left-arm pacer is happy with the historic achievement of the Virat Kohli-led Indian national cricket team.
Pathan added, “It’s been a very good year for Indian cricket but being a Test cricketer, my dream always was to beat Australia in Australia but I was not able to achieve that in my career.
“I’m so glad that this Indian team under Virat’s (Kohli) leadership has beaten Australia for the first time in their own backyard which is my favourite moment of Indian cricket in 2019.”
